After studying music composition and performance at Salisbury University, David migrated from the small-town atmosphere of his youth on the eastern shore of Maryland to the city of Baltimore, where he has since been pursuing his dream. He now performs four to seven shows a week along the mid-Atlantic region of the US and has gradually been expanding his tours up and down the East Coast, developing a strong fan base and attracting attention from many professionals in the music industry.
With his addictive melodies, a soulful vocal style and an off-the-beaten-path kind of pop-sensibility, David is quickly gaining formidable momentum towards becoming a major national act. He has shared the stage with My Chemical Romance, The Used, Thrice, Story of the Year, The Bouncing Souls, The Pietasters, The Heartless Bastards (who toured with Lucinda Williams) and most recently, Eric Hutchinson ("Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II" soundtrack). Having previously been the front man for the Maryland-based bands Plan B, Truesetto and The Making, he is now making his solo debut with the April 2008 release of his EP, “Sweet, Sweet Nothing,” mixed by Drew Mazurek (Linkin Park, HIM).

*Sweet, Sweet Nothing by David Andrew Smith is included in Performing Songwriter magazine's December DIY Reviews section*
"Smith may be the most common name in America, but there's nothing common about the ironically titled Sweet, Sweet Nothing. Yes, it's sweet, but also really something. Smith sings from a soulful yet knowing perspective, imbuing each song with an immediate attraction, which leaves, in turn, an indelible impression. "
