  • Bio

I took up playing the guitar at the age of 12. I got lessons in Jazz-Guitar in Heidelberg by Gunter 'Ruit' Kraus who's now mixing up the scene wtih his jazz/avantgarde project 'conjoint' along with Karl Berger. At the age of 16, I founded the Jazz-Trio 'Swinging Safari' and made a little record with this formation including some jazz-standards and own tunes. At the same time I played in several formations also emerging into the blues scene. The 'Swinging Safari Trio' finally became more and more a funk band as other musicians joined the band like my brother Lucien on Fender Rhodes, a percussion-player and some funky horns. This development caused an inevitable change in the band's name and 'safarisounds' were born. With the safaris I recorded the 'FUNKANIMAL' album along with the german True-School-Hiphop-legend Toni L. With the 'FUNKANIMAL' project I toured across Germany and Switzerland in 2007, also playing the two biggest HipHop-festivals in Germany, the 'SPLASH'-Festival 2007 (at the time the biggest Hiphop/Reggae Festival in Europe with main artists like Snoop Dogg and The Roots), and the 'MTV HipHopOpen' 2009 (main artists: Method Man & Redman, Peter Fox, Jan Delay). Beside this project I explore the field of Jazz (Quartet/Trio) and all other kind of music I feel good playing it, like the singer/songwriter project with my former classmate Anne (see below!). I'm also playing with the 'Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz' (Schellack-Orchester, www.schellack-orchester.de). At the moment I'm studying jazzguitar with Norbert Scholly at the conservatory of Mainz (Mayence)/Germany.
