Seven time ARIA award winning songwriter and composer David Bridie has enjoyed a distinguished career as one of Australia's most innovative and classy artists. As an international soundtrack composer, producer, lyricist, leading expert on Pacific music, uniquely Australian songwriter and singer, Bridie has certainly stamped his mark.
As lead vocalist, keyboard player, co-composer and co-producer of critically acclaimed band Not Drowning, Waving, David built a world-wide reputation through the six albums and two soundtracks that the band released during its illustrious career.
With My Friend The Chocolate Cake, David ventured on a different musical journey, an all acoustic outfit, teaming up with cellist Helen Mountfort and continuing to make music that appeals to a broad audience in a variety of countries.
David is also well-known for his solo work (Act of Free Choice and Hotel Radio), and for composing countless feature film, documentary and television scores, including the recent APRA AGSC award winning RAN soundtrack.
David Bridie's third solo record SUCCUMB is rockier than previous solo outings, and encompasses all the DB magic we know and love.

1. SO MANY LIES
2. SUCCUMB
3. GOING OUT WITH THE ENEMY
4. THE FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT
5. FALLING DOWN

"The album is called Succumb. It's kinda different for me. It was born out of creative searches and fear, and the grouping together of a wonderful bunch of musicians who interpreted my songs with soul and empathy and occasional gusto. It reflects my interests of late – in texture and sound, drums and guitars, rhythm and epic chords, analogue keyboards, groove and Melanesian feels, lyrical concerns of 12 years under the social conservatives, relationships strained and joyous, living in the Pacific, first person and third person concerns...there’s certainly more guitar than normal." - David Bridie
David's band for this album includes stalwart Phil Wales, Chris Scallan, Paul Cartwright and Airi Ingram.
