   About David Broad

I play folk songs, mostly the American kind; this includes Appalachian, Blues, Country and Ragtime. I mostly play the guitar but sometimes the banjo, mandolin, harmonica and double bass. Playing solo I play the hits and in the style of some of those guys mentioned on the left. I’m also in several bands as follows:

Broad and Rossiter’s Leeds City Waltzers (guitar, banjo, mandolin, vocals) - Playing authentic up-beat American folk, old-time and bluegrass style with my man Michael.

The Lovesick Cowboys (guitar & vocals) – a tribute to the late great Hank Williams (the 1st) but probably played a bit faster.

The Cash Machine (double bass) – a tribute to Johnny Cash. Possible the best Johnny Cash band in Leeds...

The Devil’s Jukebox (washtub bass) – 20s and 30s style jazz, blues and ragtime but a bit weirder.

I play with my man Serious Sam Barrett quite a bit too.

I can also be found here: http://www.redwatch.org/lre1.html (don’t tell them I shaved it off...)

You are invited to watch The Difference Between Love and Hades, the new video by Silverlode and Edel Doherty - a tale of love, tragedy and the seasons. It's short, abrasive and rather green! Ideal for summer, surely!? Free audio downloads at www. silverlodeonline. co. uk

The Opium Den

Jun 28 2008 11:24 PM

The Opium Den is back to bring you fireworks on the 4th July.

With performances from the Stillhouse Orchestra, Sam Astley and Craig Temple providing bluesy hillbilly rockin sounds to dance and sing along to and The Opium Den Madame Amanda Mae Steele and Miss Rose Thorne providing the Burlesque you'd be mad to miss it.

There will as always be the delectable opium tea served up to those who need it!
And also the inimitable Lydia Darling providing the tunes for you to dance to.

Why go anywhere else!

Have you managed to get your guitar hands on a G7th capo yet?!
If not, then you're missing out and you should have a look and get in touch if you're interested...
