Rev. Dave's Interests
General
As Rev. Dave: The Minister of Love I'd have to say ultimately it's Harmony. Harmony between people, between nations, the Harmony of the Spheres and so on. This of course includes the internal Harmony of Body with Mind and Heart, Will and Spirit! The music choices will either be ethnically inspired Worldbeat (see below) from around the world or globalist in theme. More specifically I'm into: Science Fiction, Fantasy, The Gaia Theory and its implications for Gaian Science and Gaian Philosophy, Science in general, Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Earth and the Earth Sciences, Antarctica, Biology, Biochemistry, Biosphere II and other biospheres, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology and other Human Sciences, Futurism, Photography (see some of my pics in the photo albums), Art and Gaian Art (see some of my pics in the photo albums, more can be seen at my Deviant Art site), Music and Gaian Music (e.g. Worldbeat see the music section below), Politics, Disabled Parental Rights, Space and Astronomy, Space Travel, NASA, Science Fiction Conventions, Philosophy, Geneology, Comparative Religion, Gaian forms of spirituality, History and the possibility of an actual science of 'Psycho-history', Books and Library history and science, Cinema and Hollywood especially lost Silent Films, The Renaissance Festival(see some of my pics in the photo albums), Belly Dancing, All things Betty (Betty Boop, Bettie Page, etc. and I'm working on the Temple of Betty website), Burlesque (see some of my pics in the photo albums), Sexology and Ecdysianology and lots of other stuph.
Music
Rock'n'Roll, all of it from the Beatles to Pink! I started my musical listening 'career' in Jr. and Senior High. I came of Age in the '70's so the progression went something like: Fleetwood Mac, Heart, Bread, Cat Stevens, Elton John, Chicago, Gary Wright, Wild Cherry, The Bellamy Brothers, Bay City Rollers, England Dan & John Ford Coley, Janis Joplin, Joan Baez, Carly Simon, Sonny and Cher, Jimi Hendrix, Canned Heat, Jefferson Airplane and Starship, Deep Purple, Santana, Dr. Hook, Steppenwolf, Starland Vocal Band, Jethro Tull, Moody Blues, Ohio Players, Hall & Oates, Abba, Bee Gees, Queen, Steely Dan, The Who, The Stones, Yes, Doobie Brothers, Al Stewart, Grateful Dead, Grand Funk, Eagles, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Aerosmith, ELO, The Temptations, Alan Parsons Project, Stevie Wonder, Black Sabbath, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, U2, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Boz Scaggs, Cars, Meatloaf, The Go Gos, Guns 'n' Roses, Lita Ford, Def Lepard, Diesil, Depechemode, Souixie and the Banshees, Nina Hagen, Mike and the Mechanics, Big Country, The Fixx, Eurythmics, Genisis, The Police, Prince, Blondie, Molly Hatchet, Lamont Cranston, Culture Club, Stevie Nicks, Wings, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Duran Duran, Thompson Twins, Human League, Culture Club, Boiled in Lead, Dead Can Dance, Loreena McKinnett, Clannad, Enya, Marie Brennan, Annie Lennox, Definition FX, Sting, Spin Doctors, Toto, Swing Out Sister, Everything But the Girl, Stray Cats, Suzanne Vega, Wang Chung, Fine Young Cannibals, Edie Brickell, Tracy Chapman, Cats Laughing, Flash Girls, Lojo Russo, Nirvana, Wilson Philips, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Simply Red, God Smack, Moby, Chumbawamba, Hootie and the Blow Fish, Cranberries, The Breeders, Soul Coughing, Six Pence None The Richer, Lifehouse, Nickleback, Wendy Rule, Gaia Consort and Gaia (Stace) who I just discovered here on MySpace.
In the late 80's just before I began developing my Gaian Philosophy I was introduced to Worldbeat (see below) and explored the local music scene and my musical taste diversified dramatically. I jumped outside Rock and Roll into a variety of genres.
Jazz and the Blues, the birth genres of Rock including such artists as Louis B. Armstrong, Cab Calloway, the Jungle Band, King Oliver's Creole Dance Band, James P. Johnson, Bessie Smith, Jelly Roll Morton, Clarence William's Blue Five, Ella Fitzgerald, Carlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespe, Thelonious Monk, and Lady Day (Billie Holiday)
Swing and Big Band including Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Woody Herman and Harry James
Classical including Motzart, Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, Listz
World Beat is perhaps the next wave of 21st Century Music as the Internet brings the world even closer together. It begins with 20th Century artists including Boiled in Lead, Electric Arab Orchestra, and 3 Mustaphas 3 locally, elsewhere we find Bob Marley, Sunny Ade, Prince Albert, Mutabaruka, Arrested Development, Mickey Hart, The Darbuki Kings, Sheila Chandra, Quinchuquimanda, Oceania, and Indigenous among others.
Movies
Wow, that's kind of hard for a movie fan like me. I mean I got the "Cinema Year by Year: 1894 to 2001" (1995, 2001) published by Dorling and Kindersley because it was so huge! It's one of those massive coffee table books if your coffee table is very sturdy. So, in no particular order and kind of off the top of my head...

About me:
I'm a relative MySpace Newbie (I joined on 11-27-07) but I'm definitely interested in the e-scene here. I've heard so much about it.
I'm married and living in Minneapolis with my wife Beth and, jeez four cats now, yikes!
I'm glad I've got a good sized house. Check out my Feline Festival photo album for our four furry residents. That's Tinker, Jasmine and now Cleo and Caruso.
I'm the Executive Director of MnSFS (Minnesota Space Frontier Society), a non-profit educational organization dedicated to using Space Based Technology to help solve the Earth's many problems right here. Remember, the Ozone Hole was discovered by and is monitored with NASA and NOAA satellites! You know how eveyone says if we can put a man on the moon then...? Well the fact is going back to the moon can free us of fossil fuels! Science is our friend, it is the ignorant, greedy individual abusers (whether commercial or political) of technology who are the real problem. Do you really want nukes in every back yard? Who makes the best solar panels? NASA! Space technology can help solve Global Warming and replace fossil fuels too. Ask me how!
We're not always super serious, we have fun too. Check out my Google Girls photo album.
"The Earth Isn't Sick, She's Pregnant!"
I'm also a Reverend in the First Gaian Church of Minnesota, a Pan-religious, interfaith, secular (the meaning here is favoring no one religion over another but celebrating the best of all of them) soon to be a non-profit organization. We promote a modular philosophy, a Gaian Philosophy, that can be used by anyone of any faith on this crowded little planet to accommodate living with anyone of another faith here as well, even fundamentalists if they are willing to co-operate. Sadly however 'It only takes one to make war'. I perform pastoral services for all faiths as well as secularists and atheists, hey, they are born, get married and die too! So be warned, the services I perform for one religion may offend members of another! Fundamentalists and prudes, you have been properly notified! Remember, new science shows: Prudery Kills! Now you may check my Rev. Dave photo album. I on the other-hand, am happy to celebrate Gaia's amazing diversity! See my biovid below. I also celebrate how Gaia has inspired so many artists as you'll among my friends below and here's a sample outside the MySpace Zone:
It is Fundamentalism that is a big part of the problem, it's bigotry is not a solution! I will always oppose those book burning, know-nothing, self-righteous nut-jobs whenever possible. How much more hypocritical can you get by claiming to be a religion of love and then outlawing nearly all natural human forms of love! Judge them by their actions, not their words. I have been dubbed 'The Minister of Love' and I hope I can live up to that beautiful responsibility! Just imagine where we would be if the religions that preach 'love' actually allowed its practice! Just imagine where we could be if the fundies (Both Christian and Muslim!) hadn't torched the Library of Alexandria! Check out my Reverend Dave Photo Album for some of my diverse (fundamentalists and prudes who are easily offended be warned!) pastoral services both joyous and painfully sad.
As a Minister I am also concerned for people's Civil Rights and in my capacity as a PCA (Personal Care Attendant) for the disabled, people in wheelchairs in particular, I have seen a lot of rights violations. The stated public goal is 'Independent Living' to have a life as 'normal' as possible for the disabled. I and a few others to our mutual horror have discovered the last great unrecognized bigotry in American Society: Disabled Parental Rights. Fully 85% to 95% of all disabled parents have their children taken from them at least once by the State or County authorities. In terms of the trauma resulting from this violence to families and the failures of the foster care system visited upon the innocent children, the bigoted fascists in power should just sterilize the disabled before they can breed! It would be less painful and socially damaging in the long run. How unbelievably cruel and in supposedly 'modern' 21st Century America no less! I am outraged over this barbarity perpetrated in the name of 'helping the handicapped' and 'save the children'! What a pile of sh*t!
"If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention!"
Who I'd like to meet:
Fellow Fans and Friends in Cyberspace and beyond as well as citizens who want to organize and help solve some of of the problems I mention here.
Bio-Video I
I'd also love to meet this painfully cute little bundle of fuzz in my first MySpace video pick. This is not for the squemish, she does love her meal worms! This wee girl is however, like the life cycle of every organism - the Truth of Creation. This is my first biovid of the Awesome Diversty of Gaia, I'll have to post more later. She's an Australian flying possum Pterius breviceps commonly known as a Sugar Glider. They're native to the Southern Australian and Tasmanian forests. Think of it as more Valentine's Day Cutenes! Thanks Jaqueline!
Happy Father's Day Dave! Lots of love and good wishes for today. Give my love to Rhiannon when you talk to her. Peace out. THE Reverend Colonel Andrea Jean Lorimer
Hi Rev. Dave, Here's to drinking, drawing & debauchery! Dr Sketchy's Twin Cities Opening Night is April 27th at The 331 Club featuring Ian Rans & Nadine Dubois. Pre-registration is underway. Hope to see you there!
Hey Dave, thanks for the comment but trust me...I won't be drinking any green beer!!!! I am sick and have been throwing up green bile though, that's as close to being green as I am getting! Peace out. Andrea
