"I feel blessed and I thank God for all that I have as well as all that I don't have. =) I also want to thank all of you that have supported me through the years. I will never forget any of you and thank you for giving me that extra drive to make you proud." ~ David Dub

"Bring It"
Verse 1:
White house plagued
By lies and sex.
Should we expect
Anything less?
Than fight a war
We cannot win,
If peace, we preach
In our mission.
We re-elect a president
Who’s sole intent: His dad’s vengeance?
I don’t mean this with disrespect
But come on people, have some sense.
Bridge:
How can we
Expect different things?
When we keep
Doing the same thing.
We cannot make
The same mistakes
Anticipating change
Is just insane
Hook/Chorus:
If I want it
I can bring it
If you want it
You can bring it
If we want it
We can bring it
When we need it
We will bring it
(Repeats)
Break:
War in the name of peace is like
Having sex to become a virgin
Verse 2:
If you think
You hold a need
For me to speak
With honesty
Be ready
To hear my speech
I could be saying
Anything
I won’t hold back or front or act
Be short or slack or get off track
And I’ll agree to disagree
So there’s no need for arguing
Verse 3:
People walking blindly
With no sight of life or what they see
When I look behind me years have flown by
And then suddenly
You can’t expect a white wall,
When you’re paint is red
And how can we scream peace at all,
When our blood is being shed?
Close:
Did you ever stop and think
Why are we really fighting?
If the goal is finding peace
Something’s wrong with our thinking
We are all human beings
Our war should be disease
Too busy fighting for peace
All while we’re dying
I’m expecting more from us
Cause we know we’re better than this
Lyrics: D. Dub
"Today is Yesterday's Tomorrow"
Today is yesterday’s tomorrow
But there may be no tomorrow, today
Today is yesterday’s tomorrow
Don’t let the time that you have slip away
Darkness and light
Gives us the choice
We can be silent
Or choose to raise our voice
Hiding in shadows
Known as ego
It’s all about us
Like the thorn of a rose
We will always be uncertain
Until we know certainty
Only we can lift the curtain
Until then we walk blindly
And only we can choose what’s wrong
Only we can choose what’s right
Once we know the difference
It's clear as black and white
Be positive
Cause your effects
Our life is
What our soul reflects
Trees of knowledge and life
We all have inside
And the secret of chaos
Is it’s on our side
Today is yesterday’s tomorrow
But there may be no tomorrow, today
Today is yesterday’s tomorrow
Don’t let the time that you have slip away
Lyrics: D Dub
"These Same Things"
It’s why I can’t touch or kiss in public
Without some BS unjust disapprove
How is this freedom?
Where is the justice?
In the bias and the refusal
To understand
That in the “land of the free and the home of the brave”
This is insane
These same things
Rights, by your beliefs
You give to murderers and thieves
You can marry the one you love
Proudly defend your country
Legally killing the ones
We’re taught to hate
Think about it
Just for a moment.
And though some rights
I don’t choose to take
I should have that freedom
Cause it’s my decision to make
I thought we were free
Make no mistake
It’s just crazy
These same things
Rights, by your beliefs
You give to murderers and thieves
Why am I good enough
To pay your taxes,
But I’m not good enough
To ask for the hand of the one that I love?
These same things
Right,s by your beliefs
You give to murderers and thieves
These same things
Rights, by your beliefs
You give to murderers and thieves
I wanna know why
I want to know why
I can kill a man
But I can’t love him?
I can steal from a man
But I can’t love him?
I don’t understand
Why I can’t ask for the hand
Of the one that I love
Cause I’m supposed to be free
Can you explain this to me?
Lyrics: D Dub
"Because I Love You"
Chorus 1:
You've got me leaving
Because I love you
Gotta believe me
This hurts me too
I can't defend what just won't change
And keep pretending everyday
White lies are somehow true
I'm leaving, because I love you
Verse 1:
It doesn't make much sense
You leave me in suspense
While things have gotten tense
You stay up on your fence
While the time flies by
Always denied what's mine
And left to wonder why
I feel a need to try
Verse 2:
Watching me fall for you
After all we've been through
You still dont have a clue
It's always about you
Cuz you never think of me
Realize I have feelings
You think saying sorry
Erases everything
Bridge:
I hope that someone else
Can make you happy
I know that by yourself
You'll miss me badly
But sadly, if that's what it takes
For you to realize your mistakes
And make you see
You just don't love me... then let it be
Chorus 2:
I have to be leaving
Because you don't love me
I think that you believe
You're damaged completely
I'm done pretending things will change
I wont defend you another day
White lies are never true
I'm leaving, because I love you
Ending:
It's something I chose not to know
Until now
But if I love you... I have to let you go
Somehow
David Dub is a professional entertainer (Singer/Lyricist/Model/Actor) and resides in Chicago, USA. He’s very down to earth and even playful with people with whom he feels comfortable. Not only does he possess an incomparable voice with a five octave range, but he also co-produces his songs and writes all his own lyrics that are heart felt and truly relatable. He arranges his own vocals melodically which are capable being light and airy as well as strong and bold. His voice is soulful and he is able to run through multiple notes naturally and seemingly with ease. His ability to harmonize is unparalleled. He possesses a sarcastic sense of humor and love of life, strong friendships and the happiness and spiritual growth of others.
David started singing at a very early age, as he was born to a mother who was a singer in the families’ church. His father was a US Marine and machinist. His family was forced to relocate relentlessly due to employment opportunities and losses. David withdrew to his bedroom singing and dreaming of creating songs but his family was unsupportive. David was transferred from school to school and always being the new student, his new classmates would tease him about multiple things. One consistent taunt was his last name. The name “Dub” would later reinforce his dreams of being a singer/songwriter.
David wrote his first song at the astonishing age of twelve years old called, “We’re in Heaven.” His words, contrary to now, are fantasy. His songs were an escape from a life of instability. David was not sustained in his decision to pursue a career in entertainment. His mother was fiercely against any such lifestyle as it went against her religious beliefs. And since his family moved so much, David didn’t get involved in any extra curricular activities to nurture and shape his gift until he was in high school where he joined chorus, drama club and theater as a freshman. He auditioned and was cast as “Motel” in “Fiddler on the Roof” where he caught the attention of his high school music dept. He had found his first reassurance and recognition of his talent. He performed in several other musicals and plays, he won first place in his vocal competitions, he was accepted into IMEA and was also named “Most talented” and “Most likely to succeed” by his peers. Keep in mind that David was still the new kid in school.
In 2000, David signed with an independent record company in Chicago. He wrote and recorded seven songs with five different producers for a demo to be presented at Midem, the music festival in Cannes, France.. There was little organization as sessions were lost due to photo shoots, public relation events and all the basics that go along with signing a recording contract. However all seven songs were still written and recorded within a three month period. So before David had even departed on a flight to France, he was already exhausted.
When in France, David made a huge impression on the music scene itself. It was stated that every A&R rep in the festival woke up with David Dub in their bed, which was a backhanded compliment to his promotion team that did an amazing job of dispensing his self titled demo CD. He was photographed with Mariah Carey, Juanye Morris (lead singer, BoyzIIMen) and several other high profile names. In his conversation with an unnamed souce, David would discover how important it is to fully trust the people with whom he surrounds himself. Soon after, it became obvious that this was unfortunately not the case professionally. After a brutal falling out with his management team, David felt betrayed. It wasn’t until this happened that David realized that in order to preserve his own sanity, he would have no choice but to part ways with his management team.
In the years that followed, David worked as a successful Optician/Manager for an optical store. He was in a long term relationship and tried to live a normal life. While he worked, socialized and acted like all was fine, he was fractured inside. It wasn’t until his relationship ended abruptly that the bottom fell out completely.
David decided it was time to make his dreams reality. Knowing that if one can conceive something and they believe in it, it is achievable, David set out to complete an album and do what he feels he is meant to do. He has experienced a long journey of trials and tribulations that have helped shape him into an artist with passion, drive, integrity and most of all, survival. David has honed his craft. He has become proficient in his lyrics, hooks and melodies. He has finally come full circle and is using everything he’s learned along the way to his benefit. He is working with talented and supportive people with one common interest which is, to make the world a better place. With this in mind, David wrote a new album which will be his debut album and is set to be released at the end of 2008. His first single is appropriately titled, “Believe.”
David has accomplished all of this amidst a sea of drama and chaos. It is somewhat difficult to imagine how successful David will be when he is actually able to spread his wings and soar. It is in this moment that David is ready to fly, standing on the edge of the nest ready to jump. Let his new journey begin…
