David Ferrard is a Scottish American singer-songwriter. His 'uncanny ability to fuse meaningful words with gorgeous melodies' (Sunday Herald) has won him fans both at home in Scotland and in North America, as well as several awards (Burnsong 2007, Celtic Connections Open Stage 2006).
David's new album, Across The Troubled Wave, is a collection of 13 original and traditional songs from both sides of the Atlantic, including compositions by Robert Burns and Stephen Foster. David recorded the album with multi-instrumentalist Josh Goforth in a small studio in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Western North Carolina. David sings and plays guitar. Josh plays guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, bass and sings harmony vocals, lending an old-time/bluegrass feel to the album.
David's debut album, Broken Sky, received immediate critical acclaim, and was instantly named CD Of The Week by The Sunday Herald and Album Of The Week by Iain Anderson (BBC Radio Scotland).
'Incisive, topical, and appealing. David Ferrard is definitely one to watch.' (Canadian Rogue Folk Review).
Scotland's national paper, The Sunday Herald, named Broken Sky CD Of The Week with a four star review, praising David's 'uncanny ability to fuse meaningful words with gorgeous melodies'.
The Scotsman writes: ''Ferrard has a crisp, tuning-fork voice which might see him credibly compared to James Taylor, strong but soothing all at once.'
Canada's Rogue Folk Review has called Broken Sky 'incisive, topical, and appealing...David Ferrard is one to watch.'
BBC Radio Scotland's Iain Anderson says 'David provides a very healthy synthesis - a vocal purity of the quality of a Scottish burn combined with the style and delivery of the tried and tested American product.'
Produced by Brian Young (John Martyn, Runrig), and recorded at Glasgow's prestigious Ca Va Sound studio, the album features some of Scotland's top musicians and singers: Karine Polwart, James Ross, Alan Thomson, Alyn Cosker, Sandy Butler, Karen Dietz, Yvonne Lyon, and Josh Goforth from North Carolina, USA.

Hi David! Thank you kindly for approving me as a friend! And keep up the great work! Will continue now to hear the rest of yer songs! :) Hope you'll have a nice day! All the best, /jackie.
Many thanks David. Probably won't see you perform in the Marquee on the 10th. (17.30) or 11th. (14.30?), as we're at it elsewhere. Perhaps you are doing something impromptu at other times? I see you are going to do workshops so maybe we'll drop by then. Have a good one mate, and hope to catch you at some point. Best wishes, Keef.
