Local, regional and national metal bands. Cruising on the waverunner at Lake Ponderosa, and Atlanta Braves Baseball. I especially love time with kids, family, and friends at the lake. Youth issues and empowering anybody by giving them ideas, resources, and support.
Music
Let's face it, though it's made and listened to primarily by the young, as a genre, metal has grown up and become far more sophisticated than it's given credit for. If anything, it's the only place in rock & roll music where innovation and creativity are flourishing because other than electricity and volume, there are no rules; the musicianship is top-notch, the writing gets better all the time, and production techniques are not the focus, music is. I appreciate all kinds of music but my heart lies in the metal and hardcore scene. I enjoy booking, promoting shows and working with local bands. On the national scene, For the past ten years, I've attended the South by Southwest Music Conference each March to promote Iowa metal. I get to learn about the business during the day and catch up and coming bands at night (1500 bands over 4 days - who wouldn't love that??) I will always love 80's metal, but today's metal is so much more complicated and technical. It's simply brilliant. Some lesser known bands that are worth a listen include Scale the Summit and Fair to Midland. I also enjoy collecting concert-used guitar picks. I have tallied 10 in my collection so far since 1986.(Kiss, Slayer, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Kill Hannah, Dry Kill Logic, L.A. Guns, and Great White). Please check out my photo's section - I'm sure you'll see somebody you'll recognize.
I think this is one of the greatest jams ever:

Movies
It takes a lot for me to go to a movie, let alone rent one. "The Others", "Silence of the Lambs", "The Ring", "'Salem's Lot", "Sixth Sense", and "The Village" were all brilliant. I think my absolute favorite is "The Exorcist". It's the ultimate story of good vs. evil. I should also give a nod to the classic 80's movies "CaddyShack", "Vacation", "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", and "Animal House". I also loved "Decline of the Western Civilization Part II". I watch the 70's underground HBO classic "Over The Edge" at least once a month on DVD.
Television
Ghosthunters on SciFi is the only thing I watch week after week - I don't miss an episode. Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, Family Guy, Discovery and the History Channel are also on the top of my list. Atlanta Braves Baseball, Baseball Tonight, and Seinfeld reruns are a must. Mulva?
Books
I subscribe to about a half dozen magazines (Revolver, Blender, Choptalk, Maxim, Go Boating, Power Cruising, and Personal Water Craft - my mailman hates me) so I'd rather read those than a book. I did just finish reading "The Heroin Diaries" by Nikki Sixx. Excellent book of how an addict can recover and become much more productive. Plus, some of the profits of this book go to agencies providing services to runaway and troubled youth. I'm a huge fan of Mr. Sixx.
Heroes
All my brothers, father, mother, and those who provide guidance in my life. Also, to those who believe in "service before self".

Who I'd like to meet: Pretty much anyone. I have been blessed with meeting several people in my life who have become life-long friends and I hold them dear to me. I'm always willing to meet those interested in talking about music or furthering their local music scene. I won't add every band that sends me a friends request because I don't want to have tons of people on my friends list that don't know me, I've never heard of, or never worked with. There are simply a lot of bands out there that are just not good, overrated, or have burned bridges with bad attitudes. If you send me a friends request and I like your sound or what you are doing, I will add you. Also, if you are one of those people that need to put some sort of suggestive half-naked picture or one of those cliche'd snapshots of yourself as your profile photo, I won't add you at all. After all, this is my little corner of myspace. Thank you for understanding.
