DJS is a Country Music Singer/Songwriter that delivers songs with a powerful melodic punch, lip-lickin' lyrics, and a tasty guitar. He's consumed by music that he's played since a young buck, and attributes his talents to dumb luck.
He has a wide range of influences, none however, as strong as the early listenings of Country Music that his late father loved, and the Gospel Hymns he sang along with in church with his mother as a tot. "Riding up to the lake with Pops listenin' to Hank Jr., Willie, and Merle and whatever was on the country radio stations, has been stuck in a crack in the back of my head. In elementary school I was learning drums and trumpet. My mom's the best, and she would spend her every last dime on us brats, she bought me a used Ludwig 10-piece kit when I was 10! At home, my dad was teaching me guitar. The first song I learned on guitar was Johnny Cash's recording of a Stan Jones song, 'Ghost Rider's in the Sky'. That riff is so simple yet so powerful is burns right in to your brain. I still love to play it".
Although DJS has been in involved in music as long as he can remember, he writes and plays now more than ever. He has been in several bands singing and playing Rock n' Roll with country elements, but now his music has evolved into Country with Rock elements. DJS toured in small vans rockin' the backwoods, braving back yard parties to drunken mudsliders, and packed college crowd clubs with various bands.
