I'm also the eldest son of Lengendary Bluesmaster Junior Kimbrough. I have just released a new recording on Lucky13/BC Records that I'm very proud of! Review from The Nashville City Paper: David Kimbrough Jr. reworks and updates the gritty, mid-tempo North Mississippi blues sound his father, the later Junior Kimrough, helped reinvigorate during the 90s. He's also overcome his own demons, which he discusses among other things on Shell-Shocked, a solid nine track collection, whose themes continually shift from sensual to suggestive fare("Come Into My World", "Hey Pretty Girl) to frank, searing confessional numbers that recall Kimbroughs troubled past("I Don't Do The Things I Used To Do", "Shell Shocked").
He also recognizes and honors his heritage with the memorable "I Dreamed Pop Gigged With Us" and frequently inserts jagged, fiery guitar solos and accompaniment behind his crisp, spirited vocals.
Shell-Shocked nicely aknowledges the Delta's glorious tradition, while simultaneously presenting fresh musical directions for its future.
