Doggone is a solo acoustic act composed of guitarist, bassist, and singer-songwriter, David Kroll. The Doggone moniker is derived from David's 11-year relationship with the successful Denver-area folk & power-pop band, Dogs in the Yard, from 1990 through 2001.
The central force of Dogs in the Yard - multi-instrumentalist, Dan Bessesen, and primary songwriter, Jay Reusch - continue performing today across the Colorado Front Range, together with bassist, Bill Eggert, and drummer, Steve Ivey.
The songs available here represent David's direct songwriting contributions to the Dogs' 1997 debut disc, "Sunday Afternoon," and his 2001 swan song with the Dogs, "'Til the Summer Fades Away."
The day job and family drew him to the North Carolina Piedmont where he works on solo and collaborative acoustic acts that incorporate the folk and alt-country traditions of Colorado and the Carolinas, together with his deeply-rooted childhood influences of David Bowie, John Denver, Bruce Springsteen, Roxy Music, Elvis Costello, Squeeze, Dire Straits, The Police, and Joe Jackson.
