Bassist David Landoni received his B.A. in 1986 from Berklee College of Music, where he studied bass with John Neves, William Curtis, and Whit Browne.
He has also studied privately with Pascale Delache-Feldman, John Lockwood and David Clarke.
In 1989, David became a member of the Artie Shaw Orchestra under the direction of Dick Johnson. He toured worldwide and performed with such greats as Buddy DeFranco, Helen O’Connell, Juliette Prowse, and Bobby Short.
In 1991, David left the road to play and record with some of New England’s top jazz artists such as Herb Pomeroy, Ray Santisi, Gray Sargent, Greg Abate, Alexei Tsiganov, and Dr. Tony Zano.
David has also backed up many stars of stage and screen including Mickey Rooney, Donald O'Connor, Eddie Mecca, Kay Starr, and Rolna English.
In 1999, David became the musical director for jazz vocalist Cassandre McKinley, arranging and co-producing her critically acclaimed CD "Stay the "Night". David also appeared on "The Herb Pomeroy Trio - Live at Café Beaujolais". This CD received 4 1/2 stars from Downbeat Magazine, and was named one of Downbeat's top 100 CDs of 2000. The Trio's second CD "Aluminum Baby" was released in September 2003. It features arrangements by David and Herb, and premiers two new compositions by Anthony Weller. David is currently freelancing and recording throughout the New England area with artist including Dane Vannatter, Eddie Higgins, Mike Renzi, Too Human, Shawnn Moniero, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, Count Basie drummer Harold Jones, and keyboard wiz Steve Hunt.
David also teaches privately at his home studio, and is also on the faculty at Salem State College in Salem, MA.
