Music and David Langley, go hand in hand, and it's been that way ever since he was a young boy. David has been many places with his music and has done many exciting things. He has opened for many artists such as Dwight Yoakam, John Conlee, John Anderson, Ty Herndon, Mickey Gilley, Rhett Akins, Keith Urban, George Strait and many more including Merle Haggard. In 2001, David and his late friend and music business hero, Buck Owens, recorded and duet together. "I wanted to do something in honor of Buck," says Langley, "so we recorded a remake of one of his early hits, Excuse Me, I Think I've got a Heartache. Only a small number of people in the music business, have had that opportunity to record with Buck. It was such an honor. I got lots of advice and had many fun conversations with Buck. They are moments I'll never forget, and will always treasure."
While living in Nashville, David toured with friend, Miss Jeannie C. Riley, of Harper Valley PTA fame. "She had one of the biggest 1 records in Country Music history with that song. I spent a lot of time on the bus while on the road with her, talking about the days of real country music. It was a great time," recall's David. "She still has many many fans across the nation. We played some pretty big show."
David writes more and more of his own material. His latest CD, Guitars, Livin' & Lovin', includes 9 tracks, 7 of which David wrote, and two with collaboration with friends and fellow songwriters. "I got so tired of labels and people in control of the radio and record business telling me how my music should be and what should be done. So I set out to do my own thing. So far, it's been working out fine. You've got find your audience for your music, and give the fans what they want to hear of your music, not tell them what they want."
David continues to write and perform and is already working on the next CD. He owns and runs Langley Recording Studios, , a record label, Cody Records, and a publishing company, Crockett Publishing-BMI. In his spare time and as often as he can, he loves horseback riding, and living the life of a country performer and a country boy.
David has appeared on The Nashville Network (TNN), and has had great times on stage with Buck Owens. Soon a collection of these musical moments will be available on DVD. We'll keep you posted!

David Langley – Guitars, Livin’ and Lovin’ - Cody Records 2007
David Langley’s latest CD Guitars, Livin’ and Lovin’ opens with It’s A Texas Thing a hot western swing inspired tune guaranteed to load a dance floor. From the very first guitar licks to David’s smooth vocal on his journeyman song-crafted lyrics it’s immediately evident that Langley is no flash in the pan. He’s certainly not a ‘Johnny come lately’ in any sense of the phrase. His guitar playing shoots from the hip. His vocal and his lyrics are straight from the heart. It’s a good time fun song with a great arrangement and well worth the price of admission alone! But wait, there’s more!
Track two of this nine-tune set is a gentle ballad All I have To Give Her Is Me. David’s writing shows a depth and passion of a man who knows all too well that money can’t buy love. His turn of phrase is eloquent and honest; void of boring clichés & catchphrases that pepper & saturate the media. He sings with such conviction, as if it’s the most important statement he’s ever uttered. The clarity and rich tonality of his voice is phenomenal!
David has an ear for a great country song. Until You and Let’s Fall In Love Tonight speak to that special place in our hearts where we hold our loved one. I Wonder If She Ever Thinks Of Me and If I Could Be With You Again touch that nerve that awakens & reminds us of one whom we once loved or loved us. When David puts his heart & mind together beautiful things happen, which is evident from the stroke of his pen, to the strum of his trusty Telecaster, to the ‘golden throat’ that God has gifted him with.
David Langley is a talent and a half! He paints a picturesque portrait with his palette of pure simple words that describe places we all want to visit. His guitar licks will turn your head around. He has a set of pipes that just won’t quit. His great arranging and production skills reveal the taste and class he possesses. David is an anomaly in the world of music: He’s a multi instrumentalist with the ability & talent to play most instruments on the bandstand, which he demonstrates to good effect on this CD. He has his own recording studio where he records, mixes and engineers other artist’s material and records his own albums. He runs his own music publishing company and is a bandleader. With all of this, you never get the idea that it’s all about him. It’s all about the music and the fans. It all translates to David Langley is true to himself, his heroes and the music.
David has a rich heritage in music. He grew up listening to Buck Owens and The Beatles and western swing music, which has a history in his native Fresno, CA. In 1945 Bob Wills & his Texas Playboys headquartered and reigned there on radio & the San Joaquin Valley dancehall circuit until 1948. A few Playboys settled there & had bands of their own, whose influence can be heard to this day even on this CD. David learned their songs and cut his teeth on the guitar learning Don Rich guitar licks. He played in bands led by his local heroes, including performances with Buck Owens & the Buckaroos in Bakersfield as a guest musician & featured vocalist. He quickly became a favorite at Buck’s Crystal Palace & performs there frequently with his band singing his own songs and Bucks as well.
Guitars, Livin’ and Lovin’could very well change the present course of country music. This music is real. If you’re looking for a departure from the “they all sound alike” syndrome that plagues the airwaves, a copy needs to be in your CD player!
