I work in Los Angeles, California and Austin, Texas shooting production stills for motion pictures, television, music videos, commercials, & special events. I also shoot for magazine editorials, ads, etc. I've learned many jobs working on the set before choosing still photography as my profession. Music Video
I started working in the entertainment business by Shooting, Editing, and Directing low budget Music Videos. I bought a couple of VHS decks and a Hi8mm video camera without a clue how to make it all work. Through many trial and error hours I developed the skills necessary to get the job done. I grabbed any opportunity I had to learn other editing systems such as 3/4", Betacam SP, Chyron, etc. When non-linear came along the opportunities were not easy to get since the systems were so expensive in the beginning. I did get the hands on experience eventually working on AVID, After Effects and Media 100 software. Now I have over 12 years of editing behind me but continue to learn the new software as it comes along like Final Cut Pro HD. You might recognize a few of my projects listed here:
DIMEVISION- RIAA GOLD Selling for US/Canada - Debuted at #1 on Billboard Music Video sales charts.
EXPLODE - Damageplan...as Dime would say..."Blow it Up!!!".
HOLLOW - Submersed - Story Version features 2006 Penthouse Pet Charlie Laine. Single reached #6 on Billboard's Rock Charts.
PANTERA HV 3 - "WATCH IT GO! - Pantera Vulgar Videos DVD. - I worked on this project for over a year digging thru miles of footage from the Far Beyond Driven and Great Southern Trendkill Tours - One of my proudest and hardest accomplishments to date - RIAA Double Platinum. This video originally debuted at #1 on Billboard Music Video charts and is RIAA Double Platinum in sales.
DRAG THE WATERS - Pantera. - My first music video shot on Hi8mm and edited on two VHS decks.
I've done Advertising Photography for Dean Guitars, Washburn Guitars, AVN, and many more companies. I pay bills doing headshots, portraits, web content, glamour, etc., so... if you have a small but important job I probably have the experience you might be looking for.
Hobbies
Photography: My passion. I enjoy the process creating unique settings or shooting on location. My personal style involves a lot of dramatic lighting techniques so I prefer to shoot studio or controlled lighting situations. I am working on a couple of narrative photo projects in my spare time that I hope to be coffee table books someday. I spend a lot of time working in Adobe Photoshop perfecting my images. A LOT OF TIME in Photoshop HaHa. I have become semi-expert with the software it seems like most serious Photogs out there.
Music: I love live performances and try to see as many shows as I can. These days it's soooo expensive it really makes it hard to do as many as I want but at least once a month I've got good seats to a sold out show somewhere. I've been into various types of music over the years including dance and techno when I was a DJ back in College, Metal and Hard Rock in High School. Since I'm from Texas I enjoy Country but usually only when I'm driving long distances - HaHa. I've seen Michael Buble, The Beastie Boys, Justice, Machinehead, Van Halen, Aaron Neville, and Tori Amos this year as examples of the eclectic type of mix of tunes I enjoy.
Television: I like watching TV shows like Deadliest Catch, American Idol, LOST, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, Heroes, Jon Stewart, CSI, Conan O'Brien, NOVA, 60 Minutes, various History Channel, Discovery Channel, Headline News or current events informative type programs. CURRENT TV is a big interest of mine since it is user created programming. I am interested to catch up on Dexter because I hear a lot of good things about it from my friends.
Movies: I am hopelessly addicted to motion pictures and the filmmaking process. I have devoted a major chunk of my life on this planet watching, doing, dreaming anything movies. Recent feature releases I enjoyed (In no particular order): Pan's Labyrinth, Children of Men, 300, Flags of Our Fathers, The Departed, and Grindhouse. I love classic movies, film noir style dramas like Touch of Evil, big action flicks with lots of explosions, campy exploitation (B-Movies), Sci-fi, and Horror movies. Movies I am looking forward to are Cloverfield, John Rambo, I Am Legend, and There Will Be Blood.
Video Games: I am a longtime Video Gamer - I play a lot of XBOX Live - Gears of War is on the top of my list - If you like shooter games this is the one to get - simply amazing gameplay and graphics. I am currently playing Call Of Duty 4 and HALO 3 online. COD4 is by far the best game to come out this year and anyone interested in FPS - First Person Shooter games should buy, not rent this game.
Sports: I love Footbal - College & NFL. I usually watch all day all weekend trying to predict the crazy BCS. Being from Texas my team is The Dallas Cowboys - good or bad I remain loyal. When it's not football season I watch NASCAR, and Baseball.
Toys: I collect toys like robots, monsters, super heroes, and space aliens. I enjoy the hunt more than anything. Finding a treasure at a flea market sale is the best. I spend a lot of time online surfing the internet where there's endless entertainment and inspiration in cyberspace. I've been on eBay since 1997 buying and selling to compliment and trim my collections but local garage sales are where the real gems are these days.
Poker: In L.A. Poker is legal because it's considered a game of skill and there are many casinos you can play for real money. When I first moved here from Texas I noticed the billboards and ads for places such as Commerce Casino and Hollywood Park waaaay before Poker became the phenomenon it did on TV with the WPT. I love the game and try to play at least once a month. I don't always win because of the Kamikaze Players but for entertainment it is hard to beat.
SCUBA: It's been years now since I have strapped on a tank but in High School and College I was quite involved with Scuba Diving earning my PADI Divemaster rating. I was fortunate in my early career to work for Scuba World Television traveling to exotic locations such as FIJI, Cayman, and Cozumel shooting camera for the show.
