Biography____
Marez was born in Mathis, Texas. Marez is known for his emotional song interpretations, believes in performing each song as though he personally experienced the emotion the song reflects._____

Musical History 1970's Sang with several neighborhood garage bands. He joined the Royal Jesters as a lead singer. It was an amazing two-decade run that produced unforgettable music._____
He formed "People" with the cream of the top musicians in Texas, which included some of the top musicians to date. Joe Posada--Saxophone, Richard Solis--Drums, Steve Velasquez--lead guitar (doing jazz now), and Julian Carrillo keyboards and just to name a few._____
1980's Went back to college. Competed in Festival OTI and came in Second Place Marez reformed People Band. In 1987 Tejano Music Awards he won Single of the Year "Entre Mas Lejos Me Vaya"; 1989 Tejano Music Awards won Album of the Year "Sold Out", Song of the Year "Fijate", 1990 Male Vocalist of the year; 1993 Male Vocalist of the Year. Marez continues with hit albums Marez and is expanding to Mexico._____
Marez continues to tour all over Texas as well as out of State. He has been to Las Vegas, Ohio, Kansas City and Tucson to name a few._____
The cd titled "Bringin it Back" was nominated for Album of the Year in 2005 with Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA)._____
In 2006 Marez received a grammy nomination for the work he did with Henry Hernandez and Oscar Lawson. The result is the 11-track "Odyssey The Journey," with the smooth-voiced Marez on vocals. It is a joyful trip down memory lane with new versions of hits including "Chicanita," "Carino Nuevo," "Hermoso Carino," "Castigo," "Contigo a la Distancia" and "Your Tender Lips."_____
The studio musicians included top talent such as Eddie Lewis on trumpet and flugelhorn, Sal Gonzalez on trombone, Martin Langford on tenor and alto sax, Stan Revillas on bass, Chente Barrera on drums and Gallarza on guitar._____
His most current project which was released in January 2007 is his latest cd titled “Corazon de Oro”. The executive producer is long-time friend and fellow Royal Jester Joe Posada and was produced by another Royal Jester Gilbert Velasquez. The cd delivers a combination of new and classic Marez hits performed by studio musicians Chente Barrera on drums and background vocals, the legendary Al Gomez on Trumpet, Posada on Sax, Velasquez on Guitars, Mario Ortiz on Keys, Ray Diaz de Leon on Accordion, Angel Flores on Bass, and Leslie Lugo doing some back-up vocals. For this project he recently received a Latin Grammy nomination._____
The influences of such worldly music as Middle Eastern, Asian, Latin and Caribbean sounds are what he hopes to incorporate into the tejano sound. Always the innovator Marez has accomplished this in “Llorare” “Andale”, and the cumbias on the “Yo Soy Tejano” cd. Marez continues to include different rhythms and ethnic sounds which he hopes will keep the music fresh and exciting for his fans and the future tejano musicians. He hopes to give them something to build on and to take the music a step beyond. As he states “Tejano music is an ever constant evolving sound. Tejano music is not only a state of mind it is a state of being.” _____
