"One of the best all-around guitarists, he can lend himself to any style thats required, going from tasteful jazz to balls-out country rock to Irish folk to dazzling classical with quiet ease while you shake your head and listen." Creative Loafing - Atlanta, Georgia.................................................................................................
"David Patterson is one of the most creative and original sounding
guitarists out there....He can take a little three-chord song of mine to
whole new level with the stroke of his pick. And I don't think I've met
another musician who lives his music as David does."

ABOUT THE SONGS ON THIS PAGE
"Anniversary" (Roland GR-30) and "Guitar Concerto First Movement" (Hirade no.8 and keyboard) were recorded and written in Atlanta, Georgia 1996-1997.
"What the ..." was done on a digital eight track in 2003, I played all instruments (guitars, mandolin, piano, programming, samples)
"Frank's Jazz" was a solo drum improvisation recorded in 2002 played by the magnificent Frank Laurino. I then added guitar synth.
"Aria" was written specifically for "Universe Expanding" - a multi media event created by Cathy Shaw in 2005. I composed all of the music, and in this piece worked only from a German text.
"Ghosts" is from my CD "Selene" available through iTunes.
"Llama goes to Spain" - features Cybele Kaufmann on vocals. It was written as an Original Dance composition for York Dance Works here in New York City and was performed at Merce Cunningham Studios in 2008. "15 is the new 30" is based around two differently accented patterns of 15/8 time. "4 vs 6" was recorded in New York and Savannah, Georgia at Incupro studios with Robert Hatcher and Larry Thaxton. 4/4 and 6/8 time meet up in odd places and flip about in spots.
In addition to playing guitar for some of the most gifted songwriters I've known (Shawn Mullins, Stacie Rose, Nadia Ackerman, Jo Davidson, Jenny Bruce, Halley Devestern) I've also composed music for theater, dance and film in New York and Atlanta.
Some of the groups, broadcasts and venues are: Ondine and Company, PBS P.O.V. “The Band”, Merce Cunningham, P.S. 122, Saint Anne’s Warehouse, Here, Mabou Mines and La Mama Etc. (Universe Expanding).
The winner of a Gibson Les Paul BFG Guitar at the OWS 2007 Jammy Awards as "Best Guitar Player" I'm currently featured on 60 CD's by artists whose music ranges from traditional Irish, to experimental, to tasteful pop, to great blues and original rock.
You are an integral part of the Jayne Canyons Band, my brother. And there is no finer, no more talented, no more accomplished band in New York than the Jayne Canyons Band, your guitarship. :-)
Aw, cut it out...I just got through listening to your stuff on your site again. Thanks for a really great morning. My wife was really impressed, and we woke up to your music. I really like the guitar concerto, especially "15 is the new 30"...Adrian Belew would be proud! You look great, and thanks for listening to me. Isn't it interesting, that in this new music era, where profit and ambition have become non-issues, we have finally found the reason why we do this?
We did rock at the Cape May festival. : ) Thanks again for playing so magnificently! We had a great time with u too. Loved every minute of it. Looking fwd to the next one!!!
