David Michael Boyd ... Colorado GuiARTist. That is the word I like to use to describe what I do with a guitar. I am about expression of ideas, worries, hopes, joys, fears and experiencing life through a mixture of music and other art forms.
So, "what kind of music do you play?" Well, that depends on which guitar I have in my hands and what is happening in life at the moment! On the acoustic guitar I borrow ideas from the likes of Micheal Hedges and Phil Keaggy and add a little classical guitar training. On the electric guitar I often give a nod to Jimi Hendrix who rocked my world when I was fourteen and lean towards the down to earth approach to music of the blues.. I add a dash of jazz that I have picked up living in Europe, a little SRV, Eric Johnson and who knows what else.. turn it up loud on my vintage Fender amps... there you go.
Lisa and I relocated back to Colorado in 2006 and have loved reconnecting with old friends. We're still discovering who we are after living twelve years in Vienna, Austria ... like I have a pickup truck and a pair of Lederhosen. But we're enjoying being alive together!!!
