About me:

I like live music - don't care what type - 1960's radio comedy, guitars, reservoirs and camping. I write music books. Got a new one out in August ... it's called TONY WILSON - YOU'RE ENTITLED TO AN OPINION BUT YOUR OPINION IS SHIT. I've also written BERNARD SUMNER: CONFUSION ... DAMON ALBARN: BLUR, GORILLAZ AND OTHER FABLES ... I SWEAR I WAS THERE - THE GIG THAT CHANGED THE WORLD - recently voted one of the top 50 rock books of all time. I lecture at Salford University on documentary directing and scriptwriting and train journalists and programme makers at the BBC and ITV. I travel a lot but home is on the edge of the Peak District on the outskirts of Manchester. I'm the luckiest person I know - I have a lovely family and I've done pretty much what I've wanted to do since I was about 16. My only vice is sweets - no, really. I've also written and produced the documentaries I SWEAR I WAS THERE ... THESE THINGS TAKE TIME: THE STORY OF THE SMITHS ... MEET THE BUNNYMEN and TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY VALE ... I've worked in radio, newspapers and magazines. It might look like 30 years of messing about for a living ... but oh no. It's not all been just fun. Some of it has been really good fun.

..

....

    FOREWORD BY JOHN ROBB:

“This is a fantastic book. A mascara smeared recollection of some of the most cutting edge individuals, hacking away at the merciless coal face of pop, written with enthusiasm and sassy sharpness, women who are still dressed to kill.
” - John Robb (singer of the punk band Goldblade and author of Punk Rock: An Oral History)

David - There's a whole hatful of us. I've met plenty of us online, but I've yet to meet one of us in person. We all seem to dig music extra special. Be well, namesake.
