    DAVID NOLAN's Blurbs
About me:
I write music books (BERNARD SUMNER: CONFUSION ... DAMON ALBARN: BLUR, GORILLAZ AND OTHER FABLES ... I SWEAR I WAS THERE - THE GIG THAT CHANGED THE WORLD - recently voted one of the top 50 rock books of all time) and I lecture at Salford University on documentary directing and scriptwriting and train journalists and programme makers at the BBC and ITV. I travel a lot but home is on the edge of the Peak District on the outskirts of Manchester. I'm the luckiest person I know - I have a lovely family and I've done pretty much what I've wanted to do since I was about 16. My only vice is sweets - no, really. I've also written and produced the documentaries I SWEAR I WAS THERE ... THESE THINGS TAKE TIME: THE STORY OF THE SMITHS ... MEET THE BUNNYMEN and TRULY, MADLY, DEEPLY VALE ... I've worked in radio, newspapers and magazines. Basically, I've never done a stroke of proper work in my life.

..

Who I'd like to meet:

I'm temping at ITV now, so not only do I get to swan around with a lovely ITV bleepy pass and poke my nose into the Mastermind set and gallavant into the canteen and bump into that presenter of Granada Reports like I did today, but I have access to all ITV employees details - so, David Nolan - I am going to find out on Tuesday how much you've been earning and where you live and how many hairs there are on your head if that's okay with you

:( David I miss you dreadfully. I miss the way you can't keep FUCKING STILL when you're talking. I miss your firey blonde hair and earring that gives you that cheesy 'Granada employee' look. I miss, er... can't think of anything else. Anyway just thought I'd say hello, hope you miss me back.
kisses

Jesus David, I didn't know you were in Triumph of the Will (see profile pic). Were you warm up for Rudolph Hess? I'll have to check the DVD, see if you're on the extras or somthing.
In other news, I've emailed the Salford City Council peoples re: some stuff I've got that they might find interesting for their exhibition.
That is all.

Shut up Gazza. You are afraid of him. Admit it.

(Have you actually seen his stuff - it's almost like a uni lecture, but... on the telly! It's quite novel.)
Jonny

Feb 27 2008 1:25 AM

What's that Dave? You NEVER went to university?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeee has his own show, that teaches YOURRRRRRRR lessons

You better watch your back David Nolan.
Jonny

Feb 26 2008 10:30 AM

in fact, watching more of Charlie Brooker's (BRILLIANT) stuff, I'm surprised you didn't show this in class and sit and have a fag. it's pretty much everything you taught, but, well, better.

Sorry. At least you can say you've written books.

Oh wait, so's Charlie Brooker.

...

Sorry.

A Manchester bias? I admit... My friends and family here in Belgium call it a disease... :-) Nevertheless, the quality of the Mancunian output is no coincidence, so I think there's nothing wrong with me! Anyway, thanks a lot for adding me and say hello to Chris (The Freshies still are real fun) and to your dad!
Cheers, Markus
