In this evocative and at times haunting soundscape, David Yancey builds upon his fascination with the sounds of Chip Davis, Ludovico Einaudi, and Vangelis. Watching the Sky Fall fuses piano, strings and electronic sounds to deliver a lyrical journey whose unfolding mirrors David’s own process of self-discovery. The CD consists of 12 tracks totaling 1 hour.
Growing up in the solitude of the High Desert in Southern California, David Yancey discovered the world of digital music composition at fifteen years old. Using MOD composer programs such as Fast Tracker and Impulse Tracker, he quickly developed a love for digital music. David received a piano from his aunt at age fifteen which he would play obsessively, further fueling his talent and passion. In 1995, David joined R.A.F.(Radio Abandoned Frequency), a group of fellow digital composers, which he used to release a majority of his modular formatted music. In the year 2000, David switched his digital composition program from Impulse Tracker, to Cubase, which he continues to use today in the sequencing of his music.
David’s style in music composition is derived mainly from his influences "Chip Davis, George Winston, Adrian Car, Ludovico Einaudi, Robert Miles, Dax Johnson and Yirma" He loves to blend classical instruments with an electronic environment. His goals in his music carrier are to create soundtracks for video games and movies with an emphasis in creating music for anime films.
