David was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Frank and Pauline Nowlin. He was raised in Sasakwa, Oklahoma, where he resides today.David has earned a living behind the wheel of a truck for over 20 years all the while pursuing his real passion which is country music.That passion is evident in his latest cd release on Ohana Music Group entitled Breakdown On I10.
David learned to play the guitar, sing, and drive a truck from his father, Frank Nowlin, who use to be on a local T.V. show called "The Hudson Brothers Show."Sponsored by Hudson's Big Country Store in Coalgate,Ok.
David sang in his sister Sharlene Bible's, band, which was called the "Heart Talk" band. They played at many clubs and events throughout Oklahoma,N.Tex and Ark including the Ben Johnson Pro celebrity auction at the national cowboy hall of fame in Ok. City and the Ben Johnson pro celebrity team roping and penning at the Lazy E arena in Guthrie,Ok.
His project, "Outlaw Highway", started over 10 years ago. It was finally played in 2006 by Marcia Campbell on XM radio, channel 171.
David wrote all but 2 songs on this project. His friend, Rance Helton, co-wrote "If The House Is A Rockin' and Mike Swan co-wrote "Tonight I'm Gonna Tie One On."
Just released this year is David's cd Breakdown On I10 which includes his song, "Proud To Be A Part Of The Trucking Life,the cd also includes his area hit I'm From Sasakwa and NASCAR fan favorite Nascar Junkie.There are 15 songs on this cd of which David wrote or co-wrote 12 of.Other writers include Gary Hanan(Tequilla Makes Her Clothes Fall Off)Marty Brown,Ronnie Guilbeau,Jon Mcelroy,Tina Hosey,David's sister Sharlene Bible his wife Donna and long time friend Rance Helton
This year David has made a DVD from which you will soon be able to view clips online,participated in CMA music festival '08 in Nashville where along with other Ohana artists signed autographs in the Ohana Music Group booth and also took part in the Ohana showcases at the famed Douglas Corner and Tha Blue Bar in Nashville.David has also appeared on local cable t.v. in Alexander City,Al on The Barnyard Jamboree and has also been on several radio shows including Trucker Talent Spotlight on XM radio's Open Road channel 171,heard each sunday morning at 9 a.m. with Marcia Campbell and has been on 650 WSM(the Grand Ole Opry station)radio sunday evening with Malcolm West also on KEIF the rocket 104.7 and KOFM 103.1 in Enid, Ok..David is currently working clubs,parties,fairs and festivals with his band the Honkytonkers we will try to keep you up to date through Myspace on where you can come to see David Paul Nowlin and the Honkytonkers in person.
