The Urantia Book, MC5, Moondog, Trout Mask Replica, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, FZ, Sir George Martin, Yes, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, The Bulgarian State Radio and Television Female Vocal Choir, Holst, Barber, Elgar, Mahler, Bernstein, John Williams, The Beatles...what else is there?
I'm back from Nashville. Next week I'm gonna post some new songs. My legendary Santana rehearsal mixes from 1976, Baby Grand, Eric Johnson and I, etc.
Born James David Prater in Ft.Worth, Texas, I'm known mainly as a record producer. I rarely work in the U.S. Originally a drummer, at the age of 20 I was officially a member of Santana (1976). Records I've produced have sold millions of copies domestically and internationally. Dream Theater's "Images and Words" and 'Change of Seasons" for Atco/East West. Firehouse's 1st and 2nd records on Sony/Epic. The movie "Dirty Dancing" singles "I've had the time of my life" (Academy Award winner) and "Hungry Eyes", although, due to pre-existing legal constraints, as of the present time I've yet to be formally acknowledged for the role I played in their creation. Nevertheless, it must be stated that without my involvement, the songs as the public has come to know them wouldn't exist. Including all the songs featured on this page, I've literally produced, engineered, mixed and performed on more records than I can remember.

Hi David!!! here Mattias from Chile, we talk a lot in your last visit during your work with Six Magic.... in a Little "Carrete" in the "Studio House".. jajaja
Well, you know that I like your work with ºFahrenheit and with Six Magics and I hope someday can work with you... for my own project.
I need a little help David, maybe in January I'm gonna go to EE.UU and I want to buy a Studio Tube Microphone... I was Thinking about the RODE K2, but i read bad things about this mic.... so, could you give me a hand with this?... which tube mic it's a good option for US$600 -700???
Love your work, especially on Images and Words, which is by far the best DT album ever IMHO. After all of these years of listening to that CD religiously, I still hear something new in the production with every listen. That (in my opinion) is the true definition of a well-produced CD!

Hi David. Thanks for the add. Love your work. Just got a copy of the Lethargy album. A good bunch of lads, and a great band. You've done them proud with the production. Budgieregards
