David Pryde, Comedian's Comedian Bio
|
| Bio | After catching the comedy bug in Halifax, I returned to hometown Montreal where I began doing stand-up regularly in 1998. From the outset, I had two goals: do a gala at the Just for Laughs Festival and open a Myspace acount. I accomplished my first goal in 2001, but it wouldn't be until another half-decade that I would at last fulfill the remainder of my agenda and ultimately feel whole as a performer and as a Christian. | | Website | davidpryde.com | | Influences | Fear of authority, insecurity, a need to buy beer at staff prices. | | Members | Two arms, two legs. Shyness prevents me from continuing. | | TV Shows | Just for Laughs, Comedy Now, Halifax Comedy Festival, Stand-up Montreal, Adventures in Comedy with Elvira Kurt. | | Films | Played Marshall Stack III in IFC's "The Festival", airing on The Movie Network. Played Bill in the upcoming "Still Life". | | Albums | David Pryde Googly |

David Pryde, Comedian's Interests
|
| General | I really like any activity that allows you to think outside the box and go against conformity and following rules. I've always quite enjoyed the music of the Talking Heads. | | Music | See "Interests". That's what I'm talking about, don't categorize my thoughts in a box, man. I like Stephen Colbert. Is he one of my "Heroes", or should he be under "Television"? Forget that noise, I'm putting him right here under music, man! | | Movies | And while we're mentioning Heroes, I love watching "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"! Huge fan. Never saw the movie, I'm talking about the television show. Yeah, I could have waited to put that in the next category, but guess what? I don't roll with that groupthink mentality, dig? | | Television | I seem to remember they used to say "dig" a lot on "The White Shadow". Does that make it my favorite show? I don't know! Why do we have to list my favorite show here? Check under "Movies" if you want to see my favorite television show. | | Books | "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers." Loved the movie, didn't read the book. What do I like to read? Look under "Heroes". And I also have a place in my heart for "The Office", "Arrested Development", early seasons of "Homicide: Life on the Street" and "Oz", "Midnight Run" (might be my favorite movie), Clive Barker and Terry Pratchett, read a lot of their stuff, and I wish I had the chance to swim more. Yeah, only some of that is "Books", I don't care, quit harshing my free-flow, sucka! Word. | | Heroes | Although it might not actually be my favorite show. I've also got "Northern Exposure" in that category, plus "Angel". That's a spin-off of Buffy, which was created by Joss Whedon, who may actually be a hero of mine. He's writing some X-Men comics now. They were my favorite heroes as a kid, along with Daredevil. Right now my favorite comic book is Daredevil, but I wasn't so excited about the movie. Anyway, I think Stephen Colbert's a hero of mine, also. I'm only saying that 'cause I thought about it, I still don't cotton to this category jive, turkey! |

David Pryde, Comedian's Blurbs |
About me:
I really enjoy writing and performing comedy. Stand-up is the most fun, but the occasional acting or writing gig help pay bills too. And improv is an enjoyable outlet for balls-out silliness. I have done some pretty sweet tv and festival shows, but the biggest success to me is that I thrive without a crappy day job and get to do stuff I like to do.
