David Salisbury performs classical, jazz and popular tunes on the marimba and vibraphone. His current program includes music by Leonard Bernstein, Julie Davila, George Hamilton Green, Omar Musser, Correlli, Bach, and Clementi.
In addition to David's solo marimba and vibraphone performances, David plays drumset and percussion in orchestras, bands and combos. David has performed with many local musical groups including The Prince William Community Band, The Manassas Symphony, The New “Hots” Jazz Orchestra, The Laissez Foure Jazz Quartet, The George Mason University Jazz Connection and GMU’s percussion ensemble. He has performed regularly at Mateo’s Santa Fe Café in Montclair as well as at venues such as the Marine Corps Museum, Jammin’ Java, the Manassas Arts Gallery and at private recitals and parties.
In addition to his performing activities, David maintains a busy private teaching studio where he teaches snare drum, drumset, and mallet percussion. He conducts the percussion ensemble and is the percussion coach for the Youth Orchestras of Prince William. He also coaches and instructs the Stonewall Jackson High School marching band drumline.
David has studied most recently with Ken Harbison, assistant principal percussionist with the National Symphony in Washington D.C. and with jazz vibraphonist Chuck Redd. He performs regularly at recitals, weddings, receptions, and other social events.
