David Scorpion is the C.E.O of Gully Bank Musik Ltd and Gully Bank Publishing Ltd.The Producer/ songwriter started the two companies in 2007 to release a body of work he has been recording with Singer/Songwriter Doniki. The Producer and Singer have now built up an impressive catalogue of completed songs which will soon be available to the public.
So far four singles have been released on the Gully Bank musik Ltd Imprint on pre-release Jamaican 7” 45rpm vinyl records. All four are taken from Doniki’s forth coming Album release GULLY BANK and have been well received by The Media, The Public and Press alike. Acclaimed Reggae Author and Journalist John Masouri has given all four glowing reviews in the highly respected monthly magazine Echoes. The videos for Gully Bank and Life Of The People both reached number one on the RETV video charts in Jamaica and all four songs plus two unreleased tracks Gully Bank PT 2 and Hail Di Man Deh have received good rotation on many Radio stations.
Other Artists who have so far recorded for Gully Bank Musik Ltd include Etana and Duane Stephenson. Duane recently recorded a duet with the latest addition to the Gully Bank Roster, Leontre. Scorpion is currently in the process of recording Leontre’s debut album release and already Sweet Slumber the duet recorded by Leontre and Duane Stephenson is getting regular airplay and is scheduled to be the first single taken from the album.
Gully Bank Musik Ltd has from the start maintained the highest production standards recording exclusively at Jamaica’s number one recording studio Tuff Gong with chief Engineer Roland McDermott at the board. Working with some of Jamaica’s top musicians (collectively known as the Gully Bank All-stars), using traditional live recording techniques, Gully Bank musik is trying to break new ground musically while keep the authentic,indigenous, undiluted spirit of Reggae Musik alive.
Scorpion has tried to keep a consistent sound on all his productions. Doniki’s forth coming album Gully Bank is a perfect example of this approach, mixed exclusively by Shane C Brown it is the perfect showcase for Visionary Singer Doniki’s immense talent. Doniki’s Musik is all about longevity and this is born out in his skilfully crafted lyrics and melodies and should make Gully Bank a timeless album.
