David Elie Sellem was born on July 19th, 1979 in St Germain en Laye, next to Paris. Born in an artist family (his father is a painter and sculptor and his mother, a designer) he’s the elder one of the family. After financial upheavals, the Sellem’s family came to settle in Paris in the 19th district. The small David work hard: after the school, he stayed in his room and worked on what made him dream: to be an accomplished artist.
He learnt the dance of Mickael Jackson, the guitar of Led Zeppelin, and the song of Cat Stevens. At 10, it took part in an educational video project for the children (the alphabet in song).
At 15 years, he performed imitations and began to sing in weddings and other receptions. At 18, David was already known in many karaoke clubs where he won many contests, one after the other.
In 2001 after obtaining his “baffa”, he organised musical evenings in Holiday centers. In 2004, David started to work in the musical, "salt and honey", story recalling the course of the Jewish people during the Exodus. He performed about sixty representations all around France (Casino of Paris, Labour market in Lyon...) and in Europe.
In 2006, the Israeli American Idol broadcast, "Kohav Nolad", in collaboration with the Jewish agency launched a casting in several countries in order to select a foreign candidate. David, with the song "Elinor" of Zohar Argov was selected and left for Israel. He’s the only foreigner to have taken part in the TV Show and after 2 months of participation, loved by the Israeli public and supported by the French people, he reached the quarterfinal. He gave interviews in the Israeli big national dailies (Maariv, Yediot Haharonot...) and took part in many TV shows and radio .
In 2006, David did his Alya in Israel and the Jewish agency organized a ceremony in his honor at the airport. Nowadays he sings during evenings in Israel and in France. He prepares his 1st album.with Kol Record production where he signed a contract. David is a coloured artist, at ease in the blues, unchained in the rock'n'roll, ignited in the Eastern, sentimental in the pop... And to repeat the words of the Israeli singer Tsvika Pik, during an interview, "it’s not because of his history or his desire to settle in Israel why I like David, it’s for his professionalism".
