Band MembersDavid, predominantly...

I probably do occasional work with the exciting, attractive & very dynamic gentlepersons of The Boneless Children Foundation. Probably.

Actually, I could probably use a cello player right soon, too...

InfluencesMusical influences include Philip Glass, Moondog, David Byrne, Yann Tiersen, Jack Kerouac, Stephane Grappelli, Goran Bregovic, John Lurie, Jon Brion, The "Man of La Mancha" Original Cast Recording, the film soundtrack from "Hair," the entirety of "West Side Story," Psychic TV, Negativland, Love, My Bloody Valentine, the Dead Milkmen, Tom Waits, Jon Brion, Danny Elfman, Angelo Badalamenti, David Lynch, Wim Wenders, superhero comics, Terence McKenna, William S. Burroughs, Lou Reed, the Pixies, Camper Van Beethoven's album "Key Lime Pie," Charles Mingus, "Les Miserables," the film version of "Cabaret"...

I don't know if it should actually be said first and foremost, but I am also heavily influenced by the things that happen to me and the stuff that I hear on that daily basis that I find I have trouble approaching & appreciating & wholly understanding. Nyeah nyeah nyeah, influence philosophy. I don't even know what's influencing me, really. But I bet you had something to do with it, you...

Sounds LikeLike a mad scientist cooking up something delicious.

In my magical mind, perhaps (David Byrne + Yann Tiersen) + (2 x mystery) + the details of the project + ponies and rainbows + Philip Glass prancing about...

MORE MUSIC (to download for free):
I've installed a snazzy little music player over
here.
Or, go over to:

http://www.davidsophia.com/music_bestof.shtml
if you don't like clickin' links.

Also, listen to some of this stuff: - Opening Theme, Boxcar Theatre's 'Zen'
- "Rope" from Zen, final version - Whereas my initial proposal is posted as a profile song here, this is the version they ended up going with. It's fun also... and is also from Boxcar Theatre's play, "Zen," which happened in July, 2006, in San Francisco. The rest of the music I composed for this performance can be found HERE.

- When We Awake - a pleasant little acoustic number...
- Unused Idea 5 - a little idea I squished into a thing... ambient...
- Unused Idea 2 - Kitchen Drums 1 - all sounds sampled from items found in my kitchen.
- Unused Idea 2 - Kitchen Drums 2 - same kitchen sounds, new exciting song.

- Hunter Gatherers, Theme - Theme I composed for the Peter Nachtrieb play, Hunter Gatherers, as produced by Killing My Lobster in 2006.

Finales & such that I composed for Killing My Lobster:
- Finale from "KML and the Wonderful World of Science" (2006) - for more info (& more of the music I composed for this show), check out THIS page...
- Finale from KML "Pop!" (2004) - And want more info on KML "Pop"? Sure!
- Bluebeard/Pirate song for KML "Pop!" (2004) - end of Act I! And of course more info on KML "Pop"...

BIO & SUCH

My Theatricalities: David Sophia Siegel
The last few years have found me working on music and sound for a variety of theatrical endeavors, including work with the Boxcar Theatre, Alex Tok and his One Kind Theatre, and extensive work with San Francisco sketch comedy fantasticality, Killing My Lobster .

I, David, of reasonably sound mind, body, & etc, do hereby affirm that I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, before moving out to the San Francisco Bay Area to go to school and pursue the twisting and turning roads of many musics and certain other professions and what-seemed-to-me-to-be odd jobs.

As it stands right now, in 2008, I'm very, very hungry for film new projects. Please drop me a line if you have music needs. I have many, many things I'd probably love to do for you!

My Band: The Boneless Children Foundation
I also play in a rock band called, The Boneless Children Foundation. We play a fair amount around the Bay Area, so sign up for updates & keep an eye out for us. And our album, "Stars For Anyone", rocked its way up to 200 on the CMJ charts back in late 2007.

My Webcomic: The Boneless Children Foundation
And finally I write a webcomic also called The Boneless Children Foundation. Check it out, yo... a new comic every Monday. Since October 28, 2005!

God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son.

A Marine Mom so loves her country, that she nurtures a being capable of becoming a Marine.

EVERY Marine that goes into harms way is accompanied by his mother. She is a safe place when such a place is not available.

A Marines father teaches to not flinch in the face of adversity, and his mother teaches when to duck just in time to survive.

The father shows how to inflict pain while the mother teaches how to endure it.

The father sets the example while the mother is the example.

Where did the father gain his knowledge...his mother of course.

One must learn how to take it, before one gives it.
