This September sees the release of Looking Back - The Very Best Of David Soul, a retrospective collection of songs from the renowned actor, singer & songwriter. The 20 songs, including five of his hits, have been put together by David to reflect not only the successes but also the emotional journey of his life and career over the past four decades. In addition to the original recording of Don't Give Up On Us, Baby, the album also features a new recording of the song, arranged by and recorded with Cuba's number one top-selling band, Buena Fé. This thrilling new version will be digitally released as a single on 11th August.
David Soul is taking part in a new BBC 2 programme, Maestro, which goes on air from Tuesday 12th August. The show, hosted by Clive Anderson, will follow eight personalities, including David, hiphop star Goldie, Blur bassist Alex James, actor Bradley Walsh, journalists Peter Snow and Katy Derham, comedienne Sue Perkins and actress Jane Asher as they compete for the chance to conduct the BBC Concert Orchestra in London's Hyde Park, as part of the BBC Proms' world famous Last Night celebrations on 20th September 2008.
David Soul has enjoyed a long and illustrious career as an actor, director and singer/songwriter. He began as a folk singer in Minneapolis, Minnesota and New York in the mid-60s. Though best known for his role as ‘Hutch' in the international hit television series Starsky & Hutch, it wasn't until the success of Starsky & Hutch that David emerged as a recording artist/concert performer and during the 1970s he consistently topped the UK and US charts with Don't Give Up On Us, Going In With My Eyes Open, Silver Lady, Let's Have A Quiet Night In and It Sure Brings Out The Love In Your Eyes.
More recently David has played the lead role in Jerry Springer: The Opera (London's West End 2004-2005) and, in 2006, returned to the West End to play the role of ‘Mack' in a new production of Jerry Herman's musical Mack and Mabel. He has also appeared on a number of popular British television shows, his favourites being Little Britain and Dalziel and Pascoe. Most recently, he has completed filming the political thriller, FAREWELL with Willem Defoe and Fred Ward, set for a 2009 cinema release.

"Life is a story, isn't it? – a collection of people, events and memories, some happy, some sad, some triumphant, some painful. With that truth in mind, I settled on these twenty songs to give you a taste of some of the emotional highs as well as the lows I've experienced over these past four decades ... moments, I believe, that resonate within all of us - or will - at one time or another during our lifetimes." (David Soul)

"When I got my UK citizenship a couple of years ago, I decided that my first port-of-call outside London was going to be Cuba – heretofore and sadly, a difficult destination for any U.S. citizen – which I also am.... Among the first people my lady and I encountered on our first visit were Israel and Joel, who form the nucleus of Buena Fé, the number one recording and performing group in Cuba. We became fast friends and in the course of an evening over ‘mojitos' and warm conversation in Madrid, where we met again, I played them a version of ‘Don't Give Up On Us'. They loved it and immediately sat down to plot re-recording it together, as long as they gave the song a uniquely Cuban treatment … which they have done. Enjoy! Viva Cuba! Viva Buena Fé!" Be Still The instructions are to pick four people that You want God to bless. I pick you.
Please pass this to at least four people you want To pray for and a copy back to me.
This prayer is powerful, and prayer is one of the best gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards.. Let's always pray for one another. The prayer:
Father, Thank You for each and every day You have blessed us here on earth. Thank You for Your tender mercies. Thank You for giving us friends and family to share these Internet joys with. I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and those I care deeply for who are reading this right now.
Where there is joy, give them continued joy, Where there is pain, give them your peace and mercy.
Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence. Where there is need, fulfill their needs
