David's Interests
|
| General | Photography, Digital imaging, Design, Photoshop, Web design, Music, Art, Rave culture, Science, Technology, Engineering, England (The country, not its football team), The world, Travel, Literature/reading and Motorbikes. | | Music |
Trance, Ambient, Breakbeat, The Blues, Ska, Reggae, Dub, Drum'n'bass, Baroque, Addaggios, Hard house, Punk/New wave, Ambient, '70s/80s Rock, Electro, Jazz
| | Movies | I don't go to the flicks much because there is no cinema in Hertford and Hollywood is run by a bunch of coke-head wankers more interested in profit than art (eg., all those pointless remakes and stupid sequels) I did make an exception for Lord of The Rings though, which I thoroughly enjoyed - probably because Hollywood kept its slimy nose out of it and let Jackson do it his way. And I have to say that I was deeply impressed with Memoirs of a Geisha | | Television | Doctor Who, Extras, Star Trek (OS & TNG), Catherine Tate, League of Gentlemen, Torchwood, Equinox, The Comic Strip, Grand Designs, Shameless, Have I got News for you, Dead Ringers, The Simpsons (Best thing to come out of the US since potatoes), Lost, Horizon, Double Takes, Star Trek TNG, Springwatch, Gordon Ramsey | | Books | Anything and everything. I loved the Dark Materials trilogy, Just finished Our Game by John Le-Carre and this year I have read Thomas Hardy (Jude), Margaret Atwood (Alias Grace), Dan Brown (No not THAT one, Deception Point), Life of Pi, Does anything eat wasps?, Guards! Guards!, Past Mortem etc. Favourite authors:- Ben Elton, Arthur C. Clarke, Iain (M) Banks, Philip Pullman, Tom Robbins, Robert Rankin. | | Heroes | Just for one day...

About me:
I'm a Digital Artesan living in Hertford, England. I specialise in CD/book cover art and live music photography but I'm really interested in anything photographic or still image related. I also do pre-press preparation (convert word processor documents into print ready format), design and build websites, make informal portraits and restore old photos.
I've been involved in digital imaging/photography for 15 years since working for Polaroid UK, where I was introduced to an astounding new software called Photoshop, which came on two floppies and only ran on a Macintosh. Even so it was a revelation, opening up previously unattainable creative possibilities. In 1998 I got my first digital camera, which was great fun but not really good enough for work, so I still relied on film for professional assignments. Four years ago I got my first Digital SLR and now I hardly use film at all.
This year I exhibited some of my work at Broxbourne Civic Hall and I am a regular contributor to iStockPhoto where I am an Exclusive Photographer.
You can see some of my work on my website :- davidstockman.co.uk
Actually I did go to a school it was called Fanshawe, in Ware. For some reason MySpace doesn't believe me!
