David Thomas Bailey is simultanious multi-instrumentalist! Playing a specially designed seven string guitar, in the DTB3, Dave is both the bassist and guitarist. No overdubs or looping of any kind, those are for sissies.
Alejandro Castano and Dave met at the jazz jam at Bliss in Arvada (Thursdays at 7pm!). A mere youth, Alejandro demostrates a sensitivity of musicianship that shapes ordinary jazz tunes into compositions as formats for expression. After the Bliss jam, Dave asked Alejandro to join this group.
Curtis Gurule rounds out the group as the boss tenor. While attending University of Northern Colorado's Jazz Studies Program, Dave heard some of the best collegiate saxophonists around. After hearing Curtis in Combo III at UNC, Dave was convinced his big blowing sound was just the thing for this group. Far beyond chops, Curtis plays as himself!
.. Peter, Paul , and Gary are boldly going where no band should go! Please join us at Hodi's Half Note in Ft. Collins at 9PM Thursday the 27th for the most fun you will ever have. See You There! Love, Colin and PPG ..
We should collaborate and waste our talent on bluegrass played with #9ths and flated 13ths. We would be so revolutionary...or annoying. I hate talent being wasted on ambient music.
It's pretty amazing that you have someone playing guitar and bass at the same time. Kind of like the lady in Total Recall with the three boobies. I just sayin'!
Tonight we'll be featured on KCUV's local music hour. The show starts at 9 pm MDT and in Denver you can check it out at 102.3 FM. Or listen anywhere online from your laptop or PC.
