David Tortolano has been writing, singing and playing the guitar since the age of 10. Performing his music, and his passion for writing songs eventually led David into the recording arena.
After recording in a home studio for many years, and while he performed in various bands, David began working at Suntredder, a major recording studio in Vermont, where he worked with some of the best engineers and producers in the business. He engineered and played with Keith Godchaux of the Grateful Dead, as well as engineered for Yorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane. At Suntredder he saw how million dollar records were being created through acts like Foghat, Melanie and The Kingston Trio.
While perfecting his studio skills, David performed a one-man show known as De-Tort. He received a lot of press at the time with articles in The Times Argus, The World, and the Valley News. Later David recorded a song using one of the first computer based editing and recording programs called Sonic Solutions. The production of this song, "Computer," which he completely arranged, wrote and performed, was eventually sought after and used by permission at the NAMM show to demo this computer product.
Wanting to play his original music with a band, David formed the ROOT BAND which fostered a very devoted following in the Central Vermont area. After he recorded The ROOT CD, "Live at the Foundry," Root performed to many standing room only crowds and traveled to Key West Florida Where the band performed at a concert with the Georgia Satalites and John Cafferty and the beaver brown band. Captain Kelly, an independent music promoter in the Miami area called Root "the Best Rock and Roll band in Key West,” where they received several articles from local papers in the area as well as radio airplay.
David then expanded his live musical career by performing solo gigs in the florida keys a long with playing in a band called Injade who recently released their new cd entitled Shortcut to the playground
David also Produces , engineers and ownes COSMO RECORDING located on Stock Island in the Florida Keys. Some of his recent clients have been legendary producer John Porters' latest project Walter Trouts' new cd The Outsider with harmonica wiz Jason Ricci.
