I grew up in Youngstown, Ohio on a pretty steady diet of classic rock (thanks mom), metal (i.e. tool, ministry, pantera, megadeth), emo (i.e. the cure, the smiths, radiohead), and some grunge/alternative (i.e. nirvana, lemonheads, sonic youth). That constituted a lot of my school days musical influence.
Then I saw the John Cash/Willie Nelson storytellers and my life was changed. I began listening to people like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Steve Earle, Woody Guthrie, Jack Elliott and other old ramblers and criminals.
While working in a local video store I met yet another person who would change my life for the best. He introduced me to bands like the old 97s, whiskeytown, neutral milk hotel, flaming lips, bobby bare jr. and many other indie rockers and folksters.
Two years ago I moved to Mesa, Arizona where I presently reside. I am by this time into the indie rock scene way over my head. Going out of my way to help promote my favorite indie acts and trying to follow in the rough, backwoods path that they have lain for me.
