David Vito Gregoli (DVG) is a Composer/Producer/Multi Instrumentalist. His music is diverse & intense as well as passionate and romantic.
Listening to the radio as a kid I enjoyed the diversity & the eclectic types of music that were easily accessible to all of us on FM radio. For many years radio was a great way to hear new sounds, songwriters, bands, etc. Unfortunately, times have changes & with few exceptions this is no longer the case.
So at the turn of the millenium, DVG founded Da Vigi Music.
One of the most exciting things about starting Da Vigi Music is working with these talented musicians/artists who have not yet been discovered or recognized. Bringing them into the studio & working together to produce something we are all really proud of, helping them to create a project showcasing their talent, is something I find very fulfilling.
DVG believes that being a musician, composer & artist himself helps him respond more to the artists needs when hes producing. As he refers to himself, hes a sound painter & the music & musicians are the brushes & paint.
Music is such an integral part of our lives & I want us to remain true to the organic process of creating. Not a lot of labels really allow artists this freedom. This void led to my creation of Dharmapala Records in 2001, the recording arm of Da Vigi Music.
The word Dharmapala translates as guardian of the dharma, the teaching. Its actually the name my spiritual teacher gave me. This translates to guarding the artistic integrity of the artists Im working with. Thats a responsibility I take very seriously.
I spend around an hour a day in meditation practice, I do hatha yoga regularly, I eat organic foods & stay away from red meat. Its good for the music & good for my soul. These things enrich my life experience greatly.
Hey David, It was TOTALLY fun hanging out with you, David, and Steve at the Convention Center. Loved the saffron-clad swami who practically bit Steve's head off for touching his yoga mat. Classic! Hope all is well! Hugs, Ashley
I really enjoyed your music and your approach to life, music and Spirit. I also appreciate what you wrote about your committment to maintaining the creative integrity of the artists that you record. I believe that our greatest potential is reached through appreciating and celebrating our differences.
