MBF Tribute to David Williams's Interests
General
Music, family, riding his motrocycle, being comfortable, and life in general were David's passions --- he did not have an interest in making a lot of money nor material possessions.
Music
David was tremendous fan of rock & blues, including ZZ Top, Robert Cray, Allman Bros, BB King, Steve Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Hank Williams Sr., and anybody who appreciates his unique fingerstyle guitar playing and very talented vocals.
Movies
Thank You Mask Man short film by Lenny Bruce was one of David's favorites, plus any Richard Pryor movies or albums --- David was really into comedy period. He could imitate so many people very well, including Pryor, Rodney Dangerfield, Clint Eastwood and many more.
Television
David wasn't into TV --- he only wanted to get out to jam & ride his motorcycle.
Books
David only read lyric/music sheets for the most part, plus prescription bottles and their instructions for the last few years of his life --- that was his very words.
Heroes
Jim Bush (R.I.P.), his cousin Tommy Williams and the rest of his family of many musicians, all the local Montgomery, AL bands like Harmony, Sailor, Sneaker and such that were hot when we were all growing up in the late 70's, and all his friends who have supported him time and time again without fail. His biggest heroes were always the guys who played here locally and those he played with, and he played for many years with local musicians like Sol Morgan, Mark Marvin, David Stough, Tommy Lawrence, John Sandy, Darryl Morgan, Jay Cameron, his brother Mike Williams, Mark Henderson, Larry Hawkins, Jerry Walden, Jimmy Sloan, Danny George, Dave Clark, Andy Norman, Larry Morrow, Larren Thibodeaux --- this list goes on and on and on.
MBF Tribute to David Williams is looking forward to the MBF ROCK JAM on Fri, July 25 at Blue Iguana at 8pm featuring Bootleg, Legs and Liquor, Motorgruve, Bone Dog Blue and Hourglass!!
This site was set up in January 2008 as tribute to David Williams and is now the official MySpace page for The Musicians Benefit Fund. It was a hub of info and news about his condition during his illness and our efforts to support David's family during that time, which were very successful due to your support. It now serves as a memorial page to him.
David passed away on May 6, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. Your help and support during that time is greatly appreciated. It was part of David's final wishes that the work of the MBF continue to help his family after his passing and help other musicians like him.
The Musicians Benefit Fund is a non-profit organization based in Montgomery, AL that was set up to support David and musicians like him after he was diagnosed with cancer in January, 2008. We will be supporting his family after his passing for some time and we have other musicians who are need of our help just like David, so the road doesn't end here --- this is just the beginning. Please support MBF events whenever you can. We have a number of benefit shows scheduled at various local Montgomery-area clubs this summer with plans to start promoting large-scale concerts featuring national acts with local opening acts very soon to continue raising money for the cause.
Get on the e-mail list for event notifications and other news and you'll hear about everything hot off the press including advance ticket offers before the public onsale. You can also check out the blog for info also, but the e-mail list gets the info quite a bit earlier. E-mail us at dwguitarman@charter.net to be added to the list.
If you'd like to see how phenomenal David Williams was on guitar, go to YouTube at channel BAMAMARV --- there are about 2 dozen videos featuring DW and much more coming soon.

Between heaven and hell, where the dragonflies dwell, There’s a garden filled with colour and light . In a hovering way, they put on a disarming display And dance to the king of flight .
Dressed in dewdrops of dawn, when the darkness has gone, see how distinguished are these debutantes . In the garden of the king, all the secrets you bring, can be shared when the dragonflies dance
I only met you a few times but i did talk to you on the phone. My mom and i wish we could have been there. We know your in a better place and your not hurting anymore we wish it was not you who had to go. We love and miss you and we will always remember you the way you were. Love your niece and sister in law...
David, you will be missed dearly. I remember you as being my step-dad,and you taught me alot growing up. You really mean alot to me and my family. Now you can rest. No more pain,no more sorrow. David I Love You and you will ALWAYS be in my heart
Goodbye My Brother David. I will miss you very much.
David Williams was a very close friend of mine. I live across the street from he and his family. David was like a brother to me and Maryanne like a sister. Always there to help me in any way they could. Who will help me crank my lawnmower now? Or be there just to talk? I hope my helping with his care in his final days made a difference in his final transition...getting him to take his meds when noone else could, doing my best to keep him as comfortable as possible. Goodbye My Brother David. I will miss you very much. I promise to continue to keep an eye on Maryanne and Cheyenne for you as will many others. Rest in peace. Until we meet again..........
YOU WILL BE MISSED... I HOPE YOU FIND COMFORT NOW SINCE YOU HAVE BEEN FREED FROM YOUR PAIN AND SUFFERING ON EARTH. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOUR FAMILY NOW BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT KIND OF MAN YOU WERE AND I BELIEVE YOUR WORKS HERE ON EARTH WILL FOLLOW YOU AFTER DEATH. TO SHERRY, PEYTON AND CHEYENNE , YOUR FATHER WAS ONE OF A KIND. TO MARYANN, GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU DURING THIS TIME.
I will miss my friend, all my love and sympathy to David's family...we won't let David down now...his family still needs us, and I only hope he knew we will still be there for them...
