David Winogrond started playing drums at age eleven. He has an extensive discography, dating back to 1972 that includes many indie rock releases and has toured both Europe and North America on many occasions. David was a member of Davie Allan and The Arrows for thirteen years and has also played with To Damascus (with Sylvia Juncosa, part of the 80’s Paisley Underground scene), Pat Smear (formerly with The Germs, Nirvana, and Foo Fighters), SS-20 (psychedelic art damage band on Greg Shaw’s Vox Records), and Skooshny (a recording-only 60’s pop band since 1975, in the mold of early Kinks and Byrds).
David’s background is primarily rock, but his love of jazz led him to start recording a jazz influenced solo album, "Pictures at An Existentialism", released 2007, to satisfy this passion. He blended his love of jazz and psychedelia, and then mixed this with the influences of collaborator Jack Chandler, and others (Arlan Schierbaum, DJ Bonebrake, Davie Allan, and Bruce Wagner.) A 2nd album was recorded, "In The Ether", also with Jack Chandler and a different set of musicians (including Michael Campagna and Michael C. Ford), released 2009. These projects led David to form his own band, The David Winogrond Spacetet, as a vehicle for live performance with a more consistent personnel. Videos from the band are shown below. The band website is http://www.davidwinogrondspacetet.com/ which includes more videos, audio player, photo slideshow, reviews, interviews, etc. Please check it out.
"Pictures at an Existentialism" and "In The Ether" are available on Wondercap Records, which is owned and run by Chris Ashford. Chris started the first punk label in Los Angeles, What Records, which gave The Germs their start.

I just re-listened to an early mix of "Into the Ether" yesterday. Man-O-Man! I can't get over how good it is. It's like finding water in the dessert. It's unusual for a project to be named after the drummer, however, in the case of David Winogrond it is as right as right can be. You da man! I'm here to testify!
Ditto re: the musical taste...I'm really blown away (get the pun) by your stuff. By the way, if you happen to know a vibes player named Bruce Zimmerman, I'm trying to find him...we used to write together.
David - Thanks for the add. Your posted tracks are INCREDIBLE! I must say that "Imhotep" is an instant favorite. But everything sounds completely cosmic. I am blown away by your creativity. The work is pure spaced-out jazzzzzzzzzzzzzz... so expressive and emotional. A pleasant surprise! I am in awe.
