David who?

Born in Berlin, grown up in and around Seattle, for the last twenty years David Lee Morgan has been based in London, England and traveled all over the northern hemisphere as a street musician and performance poet. He was the first street musician to tour East Germany and Poland in the year before the Berlin wall came down.

He has won numerous slam poetry competitions, including the London Slam Championship, the UK Champions Slam and was voted the UKs best slam performer of 2004 by the 4,000 members of the Farrago Slam Poetry list. He represented the U.K. in the World Poetry Slam Championship 2005 in Worcester, Massachusetts. In London, he has performed at the ICA, the Whitechapel Gallery, LIPS, and is a regular performer at the Poetry Societys Poetry Café and RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts). In the U.S., some of the venues he has performed at are The Nuyorican and The Bowery Club in New York, The Green Room in Chicago, Seattle Poetry Slam and the Northwest Folklife Festival.

David has written two novels, Busking and Maydays and three volumes of poetry and song lyrics. His plays have had productions and readings in Seattle, New York, London, Edinburgh and Dublin. David is a member of the Writers Guild of Great Britain and is currently serving on the Executive Council. .

I'm up in Newcastle (a cool place) now doing a PhD in Creative Writing and philosophy. .

I used to disapprove of slam poetry until I heard David Lee Morgan, now Im a convert Olwen Wymark, playwright/screenwriter (Find Me, Best Friends, The Committee, The Twenty-Second Day)

:) That sounded completely pompous didn't it? I think what I mean is that, I now reaise that even the bad things I've done have shaped the person I am, but the good things I have YET to do, they are what I'm regretting!!

Can you see the clouds up there?
I guess we're all fighting for air.
Is there any hope for life?
So go on and get that knife.
Make it short and make it fast.
My life is going past.
I'm struggling high up there
and I can hardly even bear.
This cruelty is tearing me
from here to eternity.
Hate and agony flows
through our lives.
Is this another struggle in our lives?
