About me: Toby Davies and Chris Pell are comedy writers. They contribute widely to radio and television, and have a number of narrative projects currently in development. At the moment they are working on 'That Mitchell and Webb Sound', which will be closely followed by 'That Mitchell and Webb Look'. They are also completing the work on the first script of a new narrative project.
They have a fantastic working relationship - and do most of the writing from what Toby laughably call his office. Which is essentially his spare bedroom. It is largely taken up with bed. Toby sits and types, and Chris finds various things to make twanging noises with, or chew, like a dirty puppy. Toby becomes irritated by this, and points it out. Chris gets irritated by Toby's terrbile typnig and points that out. Sometimes he reads out the mis-typed sentences phonetically. You know. It's all a big laugh.
And that's mainly what they do.
They will post some material up here, as soon as they work out how.
You've used the word 'lovely' on my comments page twice now, and it's proof that you're a positive person.
I haven't heard about the Drill Hall recording sessions - what were they? In truth I'm more of an armchair fan who likes to sit back and become entranced by the radio of an afternoon. I did try being a groupie once and went along with some indie chicks to a recording of the 99p Challenge but, unlike the 30mins displayed on the radio, it seemed to go on much longer than my MTV2 attention span.
By the way, when you decided to go into comedy, what made you decide to be a writer not a writer/performer? I've always wondered why people purely write comedy, as if they do so they must be quite 'funny boned' - enough so to entertain a crowd.
no need to be confused by the add as thought I'd e-friend you as I was a fan of the Mitchell & Webb sound. Writers don't get enough credit in comparison to the performers and I've always thought that was a false economy. I wanted to write comedy myself a few years ago but I was told correctly that girls aren't funny.
