THE HOMIE LIL RASKEL IS A CLOSE FRIEND OF THE SAV IT OUT FAMILY. HE IS THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER OF BIG TONE'S FIRST SOLO ALBUM "MERCELESS". HE HAS BEEN PUT IN A VERY BAD SITUATION AND HAS BEEN FALSELY ACCUSED OF MURDER! AFTER AN ALLEGED INFORMANT FOR THE POLICE WAS FOUND DEAD THE COPS HAD TO BLAME SOMEBODY. JUST LIKE THOUSANDS OF MINORITY AMERICANS, PEOPLE ARE FALSELY IMPRISONED FOR CRIMES THEY DID NOT COMMIT. THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME THE SYSTEM GETS AWAY WITH IT. IT JUST ANOTHER CLOSED CASE AND ANOTHER BROTHER LOCKED AWAY. UNFORTUNATELY MOST OF THESE PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE A VOICE TO BE HEARD ON THEIR INNOCENTS AND NO ONE WILL EVER HEAR THEM AS THEY ROT AWAY IN A SMALL COLD PRISON CELL. IN THIS CASE, SAV IT OUT RECORDS HAS A VOICE TO SAVE A GOOD FRIEND, A GOOD FATHER, AND A LOYAL HOMEBOY! PLEASE HELP WITH ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN. NOTHIN IS TOO SMALL OR TOO BIG. ALL DONATIONS WILL BE USED FOR HIS ATTORNEY (WHICH IS NOT CHEAP FOR A MURDER TRIAL). WITH THIS ATTORNEY AT HIS SIDE, LIL RASKEL WILL MOST LIKELY BE ACQUITTED ON ALL CHARGES BECAUSE THE EVIDENCE IS NOT THERE… YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO HELP THIS MAN TO HIS FREEDOM AND FOR HIS CHILDREN TO HAVE A CHANCE TO HAVE THEIR FATHER BACK. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME! – SAV IT OUT FAM. ;)

DAVINA'S INTERVIEW WITH WWSMAG.COM
Davina, can you tell us first where you are from and how you got into the music industry starting from the beginning of your life?
I’m from the Bay Area- born N raised in Fremont, California. I was also born and raised into music since I come from a long line of singers and musicians on both sides of my family. Music is all I’ve ever known. When I was a little girl I used to think everyone could sing because I was around it so much, until I started chillin’ at my friends’ houses thinkin’ their family got down like mine- and that was not the case. Haha. My Dad was really the main source of influence on me because I saw and heard him singing, writing and recording so it was all just natural for me. I grew up lovin’ oldies and rap- I guess I just combined my style of some smooth vocals over a hard beat and that’s where I found my place in the Game.
You’ve been extremely successful at what you do, can you tell us what motivated you to become a singer?
Well thank you for even considering it successful because I still feel like I’m just doing what I love to do and having fun with it- maybe that’s just the way it should be. But I am extremely humbled and grateful for all the love and support I’ve gotten and still get. I can honestly say that’s what motivates me. That connection I have with the fans and supporters, and even people who wouldn’t normally find me or my music appealing. I love knowing that my songs have touched them in some way. I write all my songs and I think the fact that I’ve kept it so real is why I’ve done well so far. People can relate- and anytime you can relate is when you feel and that connection comes about. I love to make ‘em feel good and also hit ‘em where it hurts. Music should bring out emotions- and that’s what I do. I’m not afraid to be a woman about mines- I’m not ashamed of sharing the good and bad shit I’ve been through- ’cause when it comes down to it- we’re all goin’ through it.
What nationality are you?
I’m a mess! A little bit of everything. I’ve been blessed with a mix of Filipino, Mexican, Spanish, German, Irish and Apache Indian. Thanks to Mom and Pops!
What are some of the hardest things you had to deal with coming up in the business?
I can’t say it’s been too hard for me ’cause I try not to expect too much. I’m very low maintenance. I have had to deal with some haters here N there- but who doesn’t? Its all part of the Game. They gotta be around to do their part, otherwise how are you gonna know if you’re really doin’ it? If they’re hatin’- you’re doin’ somethin’ RIGHT! I try to rise above all that it helps that I have the music as my outlet. I can just get a hard ass beat and take it all out with pen and paper. Its nice being able say whatever you wanna say. But on the real, I will say the hardest thing has been accepting the fact that not everyone will respect or accept Me. They might not understand what I do and stand for. And that’s okay. I can’t change for anybody but myself or for the better. It aint easy but I gotta do what I gotta do.
There aren’t a lot of Hispanic artists in the music industry that are really making some noise, yet you have managed to promote yourself pretty heavily, what do you plan to do to really get the Hispanics known?
I’m Proud of who I am and I aint afraid to represent! I’ve always identified more with my Hispanic side so its natural for me to love the culture, the food, the music etc. But I think it’s beyond race- it’s got a lot to do with the streets and keepin’ it REAL. Real recognizes real and there’s been so much love from so many areas and different types of people ’cause they want that real shit. To be that diverse is a blessing to me. I aint into sugar coatin’ or glossin’ things over- its all raw. It don’t matter how far we take it- what matters is we stay true to ourselves and what we believe in.
How do you think you are different from all the other singers and artists?
I’m different in the sense that I came up in the streets- I seen a lot- I experienced a lot. So when I say it- or sing it- I’ve lived it. I’m not your average female- I got a sweet side but I got a little too much Gangsta Bitch in me to be denied. I aint the hardest female but  I carry myself as a solid, loyal and on-point woman. Not to mention, I’ve been goin’ toe to toe with most of the hardest rappers on the mic as an equal and it’s been respected. I hold my own as a woman and keep it tight with my label, loved ones and fans.
Are you involved with anything other than music? Sports or anything?
Music is my life. I live it everyday- it’s my passion. But I’m pretty normal like everyone else, I love chillin’ at the pad with my family and occasionally goin’ out to have a good time. I’ve been into cooking a lot lately- it’s nice to throw down on some good food and feed your family well. I love learning new things and soakin’ up Game. The older I get, the wiser I plan to be.
As far as music, who are you working with at this moment?
I stay close to home- that’s part of that loyalty thing I got goin’ on. I work really close with my Fam and label mates, Big Tone (the C.E.O. of Sav it Out Records) and Kev Knocks (our Producer.) I do features here and there. It’s nice to make some money just by doing what I love to do. I try not to do too much though, otherwise I’ll just get played out. There will be more vocalists on the rise I’m assuming, but until then I’ve been the one they hit up. It’s an honor. No matter what I do though- I try my best to deliver on everything I touch.
How is it like juggling your music and being a mother as well? It must be tough huh?
It’s Great! I’m blessed. I have 2 beautiful babies- a 7 year old son and a 2 year old little girl. They keep me going. They give me reason and purpose beyond the music. I will say that it is all about balance- I have it a little different than most of my male counter-parts/artists because I get down with the music biz and then turn around and get right back to my domestic duties- lol. But I do what I do and I do it well. I’m old school and I love being that “housewife/Mom” but I also got that independent side and I represent her well. I’m 24 and I’m proud of my accomplishments this far- babies and all. And I’ll always be “Mommy” before I’m “Davina”.
I understand you have your own record label and company, tell me about that and what you plan on doing?
Sav It Out Records was crackin’ before I came into the picture. My ol’ man, Big Tone had hooked up with Kev Knocks because he was feelin’ his beats. They had done a track for another well known artist, Woodie, for one of his projects, and the fans were lovin’ it. It all took off from there. Big Tone dropped a couple solo’s and he was one of the only Latin Bay Area artists i was impressed with. I was just a hook-master back then, droppin’ hooks for homies/rappers. Big Tone was impressed with me as well, so we all hooked up and I joined the team. We dropped my first solo album “The Last Laugh Is Mine” and it did really well. Not only were the females knockin’ it- but the homeboys were supportin’ too! It’s a good feeling knowing we took a risk and it was well-received. We’re just gonna keep it movin’- droppin’ solo’s and comp’s. They still want it, they still love it so we gotta be doin’ somethin’ right! My next solo “On Some Real” is due spring of ‘09 and we worked hard on it. We do everything in-house, from the beats- to the writing- to the recording- to the mixing. We plan on keepin’ it Sav’d out and we’ll see where it goes from there…. My philosophy is: No high expectations. No disappointments.
I see that you are into tattoos and body art, what do you have on you right now?
Yeah- they can be addicting- lol. I just have a bunch of things that represent me and my life. My kids’ names and their birth dates- I got a pair of eyes on my back and underneath it, it says “The Last laugh I Mine”. I got some butterflies, stars and music notes goin’ up my back. (Gotta keep it a little feminine.) I got a bad ass female on the back of my shoulder holdin’ a pistol with music notes swirling around her and it says “Fremont’s Finest Gangsta Bitch”. I recently started a piece on my arm with a crown (due to the fact that the fans call me the “Queen of Northern Cali”.) and more music notes and stars all over with my man’s name “Big Tone” on blast “cause I’m just a down azz female like that- lol. I love tattoos- it’s a great form of expression. I’m not gonna go too crazy but I’m proud of what I’m proud of and I’ll display it on me for the world to see ’till the day i die. No shame in my Game.
Where do you see yourself a few years from now?
Tomorrow’s not promised so I live my life on a day to day. I have a strong faith and I believe that no matter what I do, it’s all happening for a reason. You’re always where you’re supposed to be in life, so whatever God wills- so be it. I’ll be there- still singin’ my heart out.
