beat awfuls is my bedroom band. i sit on my bed and record onto a four track. my name is david alan vicini. when beat awfuls gets off the bed, not gets off in the bed, i'm joined by my longtime musical brother, partner in crime, and fellow lifer, the one and only daniel burke from the south shore. i also have to call upon my rock, the eye phantom, aka captain rhythm, aka jhnystvns, aka johnny bravo, aka johnny on the spot, aka johnny x, all the way from dorchester, mister johnny allen. together we fully support each other by really not supporting each other at all. and that seems to be all the support we need. we have never played outside of boston and really don't have any intention to. we don't "put out" records or silk screen our own shirts. we just play music because that's really all we've known our entire lives. there is no ambition to "make it". like eminem once said, "what do i think of success? i think it sucks."

Spirit Spine spreads his hands with a smile, and between them stretch neon coloured wills o’ the wisps which are arranged around your room most delicately to create a tunnel of halos which ends at a glimmering gate in your ceiling, if you slide inside this path and levitate past the gate you will find yourself standing not in the sad mess of your neighbours’ flat above, but on top of a warm mesa from which you can behold an orgy of orange and red as twin suns set over an alien landscape of ravishing beauty.
