About me: There are a total of 7 fire departments in Dade County. All are volunteer firefighters, and first responders with regular jobs, and families. Volunteer fire fighters and first responders are men, women, teachers, nurses, moms ,and dads. They risk their lives everyday to protect the lives and properties of other people. They perform daring rescues, fight raging fires, and educate us about fire safety.
The Davis Volunteer Fire departmnet was founded in 1981, and had about a dozen members. This team started out with only 1 truck; which was a 1958 open cab truck. They had to store it in a wooden one car garage with a tin roof for a year before the actual fire hall was built. The property where the hall sits was donated by a member of the community.
Anyone can be a volunteer fire/rescue personel. There are jobs for every type of person. As well as you are willing to volunteer your time, do your part, and help others. Volunteers played and continued to play a very important role in protecting the lives and property of others.

Who I'd like to meet: Everyone that would like to become a member of our wonderful community, that has the resolve to help others in their time of need. For people that believe in giving their time, energy, and commitment to help others in need.
