Karen Davis and Thelma Kidd opened Davis-Kidd Booksellers in 1980, in a 1,200 square foot space on Hillsboro Road. Twenty-five years, 4 relocations, 7 expansions, 1 owner, millions of books, and untold General Managers later, we're still going strong, in a new 36,000 square foot showcase store adjoining the Green Hills Mall. As the traditional beginning of the holiday shopping season is upon us, I’d like to bring you and your customers up to date on what’s new from award-winning author Jeff Mariotte:

I made national and world news over the past few months with my comic book biography “PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL: BARACK OBAMA,” a bestseller in the comic world (and in flip-book form, with John McCain on the other side, available to bookstores, ISBN: 978-160010341-4).

Penguin/Jove released supernatural thriller RIVER RUNS RED (ISBN: 978-0-515-14477-2). David Morrell says it’s “a fascinating blend of espionage and the occult, with jaw-dropping plot twists and one of the best action sequences I’ve read in a long time.
Trashotron. com says “Mariotte keeps you entertained and gives your gray cells something to chew on while they're helping you manufacture monsters in your mind's big-screen, surround-sound theater.”

Pocket Star just put out SPIDER-MAN: REQUIEM (ISBN: 978-1-4165-1078-9), a new novel featuring the world’s favorite webslinger.

A couple of graphic novels on the horizon: January brings ZOMBIE COP from Image Comics/Shadowline (ISBN: 978-1-60706-023-9), which includes both a 96-page comic story and a prose back-up novella set in the same zombie-fied city. The comic story has fully painted art by Szymon Kudranski.

In February last winter’s hit horror/Western miniseries GRAVESLINGER will be released in graphic novel form from IDW Publishing (ISBN: 978-1-60010-364-3).

And in May, Penguin will release COLD BLACK HEARTS, the follow-up to MISSING WHITE GIRL and RIVER RUNS RED.

Happy holidays!

Jeff

Dear friend in yourspace
Allow me to re-introduce myself: I am George Fisher (of Henley). I thought you might be interested to know that my memoirs are shortly to be published - on August 22nd, by Little, Brown (or for those of you in Great Britain, on Octobr 4th by Jonathan Cape). I will shortly be touring the country, with my assistant Wesley Stace aka John Wesley Harding, reading from the very volume, called, most appropriately, "by George". I have recently published the first chapter at my myspace page, not to mention at www.wesleystace.com.

Hey, Davis-Kidd - hope you're having a delicious long weekend (lots of rest, no chores, and maybe some so bad it's good TV)! Get this -- I've been hearing from readers that they're having problems finding "Celebrity Skin" in stores. Eeek!

Anyway, I know you're crazy busy, but if you could do me a favor I'd be REALLY grateful. Call your local Barnes and Noble, Borders or wherever you shop and request the book -- you don't have to buy it (even though I'd love to hear what you think) -- just let 'em know you want to see it on shelves next time you pop in.

Find your local stores here and here.

You are the absolute greatest -- and don't forget, if you haven't already entered I'm giving away an autographed copy of CS AND a designer T-shirt through my newsletter this month -- check it out at www.lianebonin.com. Take care! Liane

So when are you going to make "Davis-Kidd rewards cards" like Krogers or something?

I think also that a tropical menagerie might be a good addition to the store, you know... for the kids.
