Interests

  • Music

I cannot imagine life without music. I have to have music going on around me at all times. I even sing most of my prayers to God. It helps me stay focused and pray from the heart, not the mind. I guess the only way to describe my taste is to say that I am eclectic. I love almost all music, with the exception of rap. (Actually, I even like some Rap too) Check out my page and you will see the music not only change regularly, but you will see the style and flavor change all the time. The music is a reflection of me and where I am emotionally at the moment. One day you may find 70's rock, the next day classical. You may find Frank, Tony and Dino, or you may find the Moody Blues and Yes. Of all the music though, my favorite has to be anything that gives praise to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

  • Movies

I love watching movies, but not a lot of the trash that comes out today, and I'm not so much into horror movies; at least not the slasher type. Some of my favs are Pirates of the Caribbean, Chocolat (for that matter, just about any Johnny Depp movie. The Kevin Costner movie, "For Love of the Game" is high on my list too. Another fav is "Same Time Next Year" with Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn. Ah... too many to mention.
  • Television

My favorite shows are Monk, Psych and House. I like the Law and Order shows... all of them. I HATE reality television. Good grief, I watch tv to get away from reality!
  • Books

Some of my fav's to read again and again: "Love, Acceptance and Forgiveness" by Jerry Cook "Animal Farm" by George Orwell "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens Oh, did I mention the Bible?
  • Heroes

My heroes are the men and women who put their lives on the line for the freedom we live in everyday. Another group of heroes are those who devote their lives to the Lord as missionaries, taking the Gospel of Christ to people groups that otherwise might not hear.

About me:

....Where does one begin when talking about himself?..

Well, I am husband to my wonderful bride of 23 years. Libby is a gift from God, and he apparently has given her much grace, patience and understanding, because she still wants to be with me after all these years.

I am the father of two of the most awesome kids in the world. I'd have to write a book to tell you about them in detail, but suffice it to say, they are just incredible, and I believe both of them will have a profound impact on the world around them as they grow in this life. Daniel, Ashley... you make your daddy so proud of you each and every day!

Me... well, I am the youngest child of 10 born to my parents. One brother, Donnie, I never was privileged to meet, as he died as an infant, and another brother, Jerry, died at 22 years of age. He as just an incredible guy who faced some of the strangest and most unfair battles that life could ever throw at a body, but he faced these challenges head on and lived life to the fullest. He's been gone 38 years, but I still miss that dude!

Being the youngest of such a large family has it's benefits... as well as it's curses. But my family is the best, and I love each of my brothers and sisters so incredibly much. When I was trashing my life, they still loved me and never gave up on me, and I love them even more for not giving up on me or judging me for who and what I was then.

Forget the past, let's look at today and the future. My future is bright, because I found my way to Jesus and surrendered my life to him over a quarter of a century ago. (Man, does that make me sound old or what?) The Lord has been so good to me, and I now spend my days trying to somehow let my life bring glory to His name. I've been preaching the gospel message almost from the day that I met Jesus, marking the 27th anniversary of my ministry this past July. I earned my first credentials as an Exhorter in 1986 and earned the rank of Ordained Bishop in the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee in 1994.

Today, I am truly blessed to pastor a wonderful group of people in Galesburg, Illinois. Actually the church building is in East Galesburg. Harvest Church is a fairly small, but growing church, and I believe that the Lord has set before us a destiny that will see this church do much for the Kingdom of God. We may never be known by people outside of our own community, but God knows our names and he marks the course. So long as we are pleasing to Him, I am cool with that!

So this is me. If you want to know more, send me a message.

All in all, I have to say, the Lord has been good to me... and He will be good to you too, if you allow Him to be!

Who I'd like to meet:

People living? I'd love the opportunity to have a private sit down with Bill Wilson (the Pastor/Evangelist from Brooklyn, NY) and Jerry Cook (Pastor/Author from Bothell, WA). I'd love to "pick the minds" of these two men of God. Not trying to be critical, but I read all the time on these things that people say they want to meet Jesus. Well... I already have. He's my Lord, Savior and best friend!
