"America's abundance was created not by public sacrifices to 'the common good,' but by the productive genius of free men who pursued their own personal interests and the making of their own private fortunes. They did not starve the people to pay for America's industrialization. They gave the people better jobs, higher wages and cheaper goods with every new machine they invented, with every scientific discovery or technological advance -- and thus the whole country was moving forward and profiting, not suffering, every step of the way." [Ayn Rand]
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage." -Alexander Tyler
Fascist ethics begin ... with the acknowledgment that it is not the individual who confers a meaning upon society, but it is, instead, the existence of a human society which determines the human character of the individual. According to Fascism, a true, a great spiritual life cannot take place unless the State has risen to a position of pre-eminence in the world of man. The curtailment of liberty thus becomes justified at once, and this need of rising the State to its rightful position. [Mario Palmieri, "The Philosophy of Fascism" 1936]
"We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society." [Hillary Clinton, 1993]

"Dependence begets subservience and venality, suffocates the germ of virtue, and prepares fit tools for the designs of ambition." - Thomas Jefferson, Notes on the State of Virginia, Query 19, 1787
"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined." - Patrick Henry
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." - Thomas Jefferson
"When the government fears the people there is liberty; when the people fear the government there is tyranny." - Thomas Jefferson
"What country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms" - Thomas Jefferson
"To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical." - Thomas Jefferson
"That government is beat which governs least" - Henry David Thoreau
"The course of history has shown that as a government grows, Liberty decreases" - Thomas Jefferson
"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government." - Patrick Henry
"I think we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to William Ludlow, September 6, 1824
"If a nation expects to be ignorant — and free — in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Colonel Charles Yancey, January 6, 1816

like to fish, camp, climb, kayak, airsoft... its not that i like to do something if i can get hurt doing it... its just that pretty much everything i like to do HAPPENS to be something that could get me hurt.... funny how that works...
im a huge rugby fan...
definitely a hockey fan... love me some MMA fights - Affliction and UFC (R.I.P. Pride)
i do some video work, some writing... played music for a while...

im kinda high strung... i mean, life is short...no use wasting what time you DO have on having a bad day...
i have no time for people who feel sorry for themselves... the only person responsible for your actions and your life is you...if you're not happy with it, what are you gonna do to change it?
"there are NO problems in life... simply a series of challenges which reveal the character that already lies within you..."
This is possibly the greatest compliment I've ever received regarding my training. For some background, my buddy Ronnie Abbate smoked me at my first NAGA worlds tourny back in 2002 when we were both whitebelts. This is what he told me after watching my fight:
"wow.... glad I met you on the mat 4 years ago, and not today... great job, well deserved win.. you look awesome..."
The greatest complement an athlete can receive is from that of a respected and accomplished peer and opponent. So Ronnie, thank-YOU for destroying me back in the day, and motivating me to get better.
"for what level of imperfection will you settle" - brandon lee
"the mat is an ocean, i'm a shark, and most people don't even know how to swim" - Jean Jacques Machado
