GOD OF SURPRISES, by Gerard W. Hughes, foreword by Eugene H. Peterson (Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co., 163 pp., $18). This third edition (the first was published in 1985) comes from a Jesuit priest from Birmingham, England. Hidden in our moods and feelings, thoughts and daydreams, experiences and hopes is our inner life. Father Hughes says: “God is in all things, so there is no particle in creation and no experience of yours in which God is not with you.” The author provides ways to clear the inner chaos and find the treasure within.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. Hello Dawn

Hope you enjoy my newest blog:

    Never Forgotten

    Far away,
    in another land
    a distance that is removed
    nothing but my dreams
    and your face...

    It is silly, poems.
    That transcends time
    and hopefully brings a smile
but the land you are from
    must be beautiful
for there is where you come.

    Though I walk and fancy
    and think of you
    whisper of spells
    off boyish dreams
    that come back to play.

    This I know
    and forever will be alive;
    nothing is ever lost,
for All that is meant to be.

    ~Roel Corpus~

Ps_ Have a wonderful Weekend :)

    Hi Dawn,
I hope you're feeling better today. I've been feeling under the weather the last couple of days myself. I actually couldn't concentrate at all in front of the easel. Stayed well away from it. Today's started better. Hope it contunues that way.
    Thanks for the Coldplay vid,

I remember going to a car boot sale and seeing a photographer's lamp on a tripod. I snapped it up! It only cost me a fiver (£5) ! ..........I got my draughtsmen's board from a boot fair too......................I love a bargain !
There's nothing wrong or inferior about the lighting in Dan's latest portrait photos of you Dawn. They are superb.

He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands, his head, and his heart is an artist. ~ St. Francis of Assissi

Artist's Biography:....

I was born and raised in Lake Charles Louisiana, and currently work out of my home studio in Houston Texas. I am a cajun creole also with scottish and native american ancestry. I may be stranded in the 4th largest city in the U.S. today, but my heart is still beating in Calcasieu Parish, Sportsmans Paradise, Southwest Louisiana!

My mediums are acrylics, oils, pencil, pen, oil pastels, colored pencil, crayon, collage, decoupage, and other experimental mixed media.

In my artwork, I enjoy adventure, unpredictability, and taking things as they come and not planning things out too strictly but rather letting them take form as I create them spontaneously. I enjoy portraying my culture, ancestry, emotions, daily life, and faith.

Everything in art for me starts out as a vague feeling, concept, or idea that I cannot quite see clearly or completely in the beginning. Ideas and unexpected unplanned inspirations come to me as I'm working that change the path of the artwork, and so the final result is always an surprise. I consider each artwork that I create to be a journey with an unexpected ending.

I feel as if my work teaches me something about the subconscious part of my life that I usually do not experience directly through my usual everyday conscious thoughts. I feel as if I'm in contact with the childlike dreamer part of myself that is connected to innocence and wonder, and it's a very healing experience.

I have found creating art from my heart to be a great way to get in touch with my soul and it's a tool to cultivate my relationsip with God and creation, and I feel very happy and energetic with my work and feel that I'm doing exactly what I am meant to be doing in life with my talents. This gives me a sense of peace, and wholeness.

They say art is a revealer of the heart. I have a very ecclectec heart I think. A little bit of this, and a little bit of that. Hey, that sounds like a good cajun recipe!

Not all are called to be artists in the specific sense of the term. Yet, as Genesis has it, all men and women are entrusted with the task of crafting their own life: in a certain sense, they are to make of it a work of art, a masterpiece. ~ Pope John Paul II, Letter to Artists

a band of evil men has encircled me,
they have pierced my hands and feet.
