Dawson is the latest product of a creative fusion between rock influences and new country music. Reigns influences include rock sensations Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Journey and country artists Garth Brooks, Travis Tritt and Montgomery Gentry to name a few.
Singing and performing most of his life in soloist competitions as well as on stage in musical productions. Dawson began his professional music career six years ago working the indie circuit in local bars and country festivals both in the US and Canada. Taking advantage of every possible opportunity to perform, honing his skills as a vocalist, entertainer and writer, his hard work and dedication have begun to pay off. Runner-up in the renowned Colgate Country Showdown in the US, previously won by Tim McGraw and Martina McBride. Dawson has begun to share the stage with many successful acts such as Aaron Pritchett, The Road Hammers, Gord Bamford, Jessie Farrel and Jason Blaine.
“Everything’s perfectly aligned,” explains the talented singer/songwriter who has trained under Canadian rock icon, Ray Lyell and Nashville’s own Renee Grant-Williams, vocal coach to Grammy Award-winning stars Faith Hill, the Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban. Always wanting to improve on his vocal technique when possible. Dawson is now training with Elaine Overholt, one of North America's most respected vocal coaches, through her Big Voice Studio in Toronto. Elaine has worked with singers, theatre performers and was the movie vocal coach for the casts of Hairspray and Chicago.
In 2007, Dawson was introduced to Jason Barry, a top Canadian music producer who is highly respected in the country music industry. After meeting Dawson and listening to his music, Jason agreed to produce Dawson’s debut CD. Recently, Dawson was fortunate to meet Woody Bowles, a successful and well known manager from Nashville, now living and working in Canada. Woody found Dawson to be an extremely talented, dedicated and results orientated artist and began working with and advising Dawson on the business side of the music industry. Woody has managed some very successful country music careers such as, The Judds, Kix Brooks (Brooks & Dunn), Terri Clark and Charlie Major to name a few. Dawson’s career is definitely in good hands moving forward with Woody Bowles as part of his support team.
Dawson has always been focused on being an international music performer. Canada and the U.S. will no doubt be major markets for his music career. However, Australia, Asia and Europe are also areas of the world that Dawson plans to perform. “It’s all about the music and the show,” Dawson explains. “If there are fans of my music around the world, then I am going to make sure I bring my show to them!”. Dawson plans on delivering a high energy country rock CD with big guitars and drums to keep things rocking. Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Dawson plans on making sure his live show’s are one of the most energetic and entertaining country performances around. I want my fans to feel apart of the show, on their feet dancing and singing along to my songs!”. When asked what he expects in return from his fans, this fun loving guy with a smile says, “I want the girls to want me and the guys to want to drink with me!”.
It’s clear that Dawson’s star is rising fast and he is a performer looking to make his mark in country music.
