Day3 is a 3 piece band, that fits into the genre of hard rock/metal. Originally forming in the summer of 2006, the group originally played together over 10 years ago.
Consisting of front-man Guitarist/Vocalist Stew Murray, Bassist/backing vocalist Duane Sutherland and recently joined Drummer Triga7, the group has a unique sound and a stage presence second to none. Although only a 3 piece band they have received comments form judges such as “an amazing new sound” “fantastic stage presence” and “the band NZ has been waiting for”
Day3's distinctive sound is built on the lifelong influence of rock and heavy metal, although the front man Stew started his passion for music as a classical guitarist over 20 years ago.
Only 6 months after forming as a band, Day3 took away best songwriter and a 4th place standing in the world battle of the bands national final. June 2008 saw Day3 claim 1st place ranking and a $5000 cash prize in the Axces bar Rattle the Room Competition (beating competitors from all over the North Island)
Most recently Day3 has had a change in line up with their new drummer Triga7 joining the band, which in turn has created new depth and a complete restructure to the way they write music (creating a mixture of there love and a commercial sound that radio will love playing). Both Stew and Triga7 have quit there professions to concentrate wholly on there passion for music, making comment that only 100% commitment will give them the results they are looking for. Day3 is extremely passionate and dedicated about the music they write and with a self recorded demo EP in hand is now looking for promotion, a record label, and nationwide exposure, recognizing that this will take hard work and sacrifice. . . a price they are all prepared to pay.
