The original Dada movement began in Zurich and became an international movement. Or non-movement, as it were. Dada had only one rule: Never follow any known rules. There was no predominant medium in Dadaist art. All things from geometric tapestries to glass to plaster and wooden reliefs were fair game.

The Uncanny (Ger. Das Unheimliche -- literally, "un-home-ly") is a Freudian concept of an instance where something can be familiar, yet foreign at the same time, resulting in a feeling of it being uncomfortably strange.

This is a closing reception for MIASMA which opened on Feb. 21st at The Assembly Room, 15 Corson Ave. 2nd Fl. . There will be an after party at the Selzer residence, 180 Corson Ave. and a grandiloquent performance art procession connecting the two houses, thus the title MINI MIASMIC CORSON ART WALK.

Aside from Lewis and Lapcevic, the closing will also feature performance art by David Rodgers, Amanda Curtis and Brendan Coyle of the Assembly with musical guest Les Vinyl, and the maps of Robert McMurray on view at 180 Corson.
