This band is as cool as whipped cream, as mind bending as nitrous oxide and conveniently packaged like baby bottles of booze. You’ll want more after you taste, breathe and drink a little Day of the Meerkat. Simply put: they are unique-r than the rest.
A two guitar attack, bass, drums and a singer who croons or screams catastrophically while conjuring the 5th dimension from his kaos pad and theremin. Day of the Meerkat is the blood clot in the heart of conformity who will still have their songs marinating in your mind days after the aftermath. From epic journeys to short rowdy footstompers, they lead a bewildering and much needed sneak attack on the Australian music scene.
Day of the Meerkat were scabrous, spiky, schizoid and highly enjoyable. They took off on bizarre tangents all their own but informed by Mr Bungle, Tom Waits and even the scattershot rhythms of the Arctic Monkeys.
