Days In Grief last show live @ Underground Cologne, 29.12.2007
Days In Grief was founded in September 2001.
After three months of writing songs together, we spend a weekend in a small studio in a youth-center near cologne to record our first demo containing the songs "rust", "together", "autumn", "god curb america", and "without you".
In February 2002 we recorded another four tracks ("wait", "how long", "falling gauntlet", and "the abstract feeling of being lost") and put all songs together to what would become "...lessons from the past".
By that time we had just started playing gigs which we made up by handing around our demo to clubs near cologne.
On 26.3.2002 we "officially" released "...lessons from the past" with a show at MTC, cologne, then spend the rest of the year playing shows near cologne, and filled our first support-slot : Good Clean Fun.
In January 2003 we headed towards a new CD, which we recorded in our rehearsal-room with sebastian's 8-track tape recorder, and should be named "Poetic Licence". We decided it to be a real d.i.y -project, started burning mini-CDs and Flo spend nights building the booklets. After it was all done, we recognized that some of the CDs were not running right, so we threw it all away and decided to just sending it around as a demo.
By that time we met Christian Klimek, who told us about his new label and management-activities. As his label was not yet able to release CDs, he became our manager.
In april 2003 we signed to Poisonfree.com Records, and started planning our first album. The studio-period was set to august, so we started writing new songs.
After some back and forth, we finally found ourselves recording in Leverkusen at Christophs (Poisonfree) father's studio together with Thomas Hannes from august to september 2003. The nice weather turned it to be some kind of a holiday with barbecue nearly every night.
Right after the recordings were done Christoph and Marc, both people we signed the contract with, had left Poisonfree and we were faced with a whole new situation.
After loads of discussions we decided to switch over to EatTheBeat Music, Christians Label. In early 2004 we found "Radar" as a new partner for promotion and publishing.
On 29.3.2004 our label debut "Portrait Of Beauty" was released, and we started off with supportslots for Offspring and Clawfinger. In summer 2004 we played our first tour together with "Tribute To Nothing" from England, after buying our own tourvan one week before the tour started. Rest of 2004 we played some open-air festivals like Bochum Total and Ringfest in Cologne, or indoor shows together with "On The Might Of Princes", "Waterdown", "Cataract", and "Heaven Shall Burn", and finished with the "Nachtzeche-Tour" from october to december.
In March 2005 we spend three weeks at Woodhouse Studio, Hagen, to record our new Album together with Siggi Bemm as producer and Jeff Collier as Vocal producer. The songs and especially the sound of the album turned out to be really what we were looking for.
"Behind The Curtain Of A Modern Tomorrow" was released on 26.06.2005 via EatTheBeat Music / Roadrunner Records / Universal, as our label had signed a labeldeal with Roadrunner.
Still touring constantly we got the chance to support "Further Seems Forever", "My Chemical Romance", and "Bullet For My Valentine" on their german tour. In summer we played at Berlinova Festival, and in November we were invited to be opener on the main stage at all four german dates of the "Taste Of Chaos Tour", sharing stage with "Story Of The Year", "The Used", "Killswitch Engage", "Rise Against", and "Funeral For A Friend".

Um mal das Namedropping zu beenden eine Selbstbeschreibung der Band : "the sound of shots ringing out in the high school cafeteria & landing in the head of a bully"
Sounds good. I know I start training for my teaching position on the 6th and it will be ongoing for a few more months but hopefully we can work something out. the extra coin i make from taking those paid surveys online helps out alot tho; you should really do them too; i mean, hey, the extra money comes in handy, right? i guess you'll have to type the link into internet explorer or whatever, but here it is:
