The band was formed in august 2004 by dan and spencer over a drunken
conversation in a pub where they met. They had both been in various bands
of various degrees of utter shiteness in the past, and decided it was time to
start another one, so days of pain was born into the world - kicking, spewing and screaming blue fucking murder. The legendary Steve Carter -
self confessed satanoholic and thug was recruited to play drums along with
Mark Evans - a 65 year old tone deaf ex coalminer who owned a sex pistols
record (and was therefore punk as fuck) on vocals. After a very short while
it became apparent that Steve couldn't play drums for fucking toffee, and Mark's vocal skills were like listening to fingernails being scraped down a chalkboard - (which in hindsight, after hearing poyner's inimitable style of retard chicken mumbling might of been a better option). Anyways, Mark left
and Carter went onto vocals for a short while before leaving to pursue his
career in alcohol related violence and theft.
Thus the next chapter in this sad tale of affairs began, Tom (who was working
on the sanitary towels section at Tescos in Ashford joined on drums in december 2004, Poyner (which means "bell-end" in greek) joined on vocals in January 2005, and the band started to rehearse on a regular basis interspersed with going to the pub instead a lot.
By May 2005 it was clear what direction the band was taking both musically and ethically, they had come up with a few basic chord structures straight off the back of a frosties box "tony the tiger plays hardcore - cut out and keep style" , poyner was stringing together the words for all the songs - based on the words that had been written for one song already, (kinda like a fucked up speak and spell with only twelve words left in its shot to fuck 1kb memory), tom's arthritis was playing havoc with his blastbeats, dan was addled with class A narcotics and unable to differentiate between a guitar string and his bird's g-string, and spencer was unable to decide on what religion he belonged to, or who it was he actually had e-beef with. The scene was set for the hate to be unleashed.
Therefore, it was time to record the 1st demo.
The band went up to the CRO'S NEST STUDIO in Croydon to record it, at the helm was Sam Thredder - owner, producer, engineer and all round SAFE AS FUCK geezer!! (check out the cros nest page here on myspace and see for yourself how GOOD the man is!!). Sam lives and breathes hardcore, and did a proper good job for the band, it all sounded well tasty.
There was five tracks on the first demo - "fight as one","stabbed to death","broken nose","shut your mouth" and "too late". It was met with critical acclaim such as "shite" and "fucking rubbish" by a few tossers with
loads of internet scene points, but they were abruptly silenced by the fact that the band flogged (or gave away to the needy) just about all of the 500 that were made.
The band played their 1st show at the dome, tuffnel park, london in early june
and supported some total heavy fucking bands like "surge of fury" and "blades of unity" (the latter of whom were playing their last show, and the lads were proper honoured to be on the bill with them). That show was put on by Anton, another geezer of max safetyness.
They played a fair old bag of shows after that, thanks to peeps like Mattybar and the Rucktion mob,Vince,Jack,Louise to name but a few and shared the stage and the ale with some banging bands like Injury Time,Knuckledust,Ninebar,50 Caliber,Diction,Discharge, Municipal Waste,Irate,Visual Offence,Shadow Law,The Deathskulls plus many, many more.
They recorded another 5 tracks, again with Sam the Badman, in the September which were going to go on splits with "possessed to hate" from japan, and "coach calhoun" from up in the fens somewhere, but sadly, neither of the projects ever happened. Instead the tracks -"defeated","spit in your face","don't go down","braindead","you fucking scum" and "headbanger" (by the legends and firm favourites of the lads - The Cockney Rejects) made it onto the demo 2 / tour cd which was sold on a weeks tour of the UK in May 2006.
The heavy schedule of this tour involved getting pissed up in Great Yarmouth for two days as they had fuck all else to do between shows in Norwich and Bristol.
After the tour, the band decided to call it a day around the end of July.
On behalf of the band, it remains to say a BIG THANKS to everyone who helped the band out in one way or another, by giving them shows, floorspace, food, money, drink, drugs, etc.
Sorry to everyone who was on the original band profile, some bastard hacked and deleted it. This one isnt going anywhere, and will be updated
with flyers and videos soon so ya can all relive those special, magical moments of days of pain. Maybe they'll be back one day. ROFL.
