   The Circus 的自我介紹
關於我:

Our website is here.

Connect. Create. Express. Sustain.

We recognize the potential of every individual to create. We want to empower the members of our community by helping them actualize their dreams. We value the contributions of everyone, and we want to support each other with a true sense of community. We know that in collaborating with others, we can create something greater than ourselves.

The Circus is dedicated to building a nourishing environment that will encourage community interaction, artistic collaboration, and the empowerment of the individual. We offer a place to create, perform, and share freely in the experience of living.

We envision a Dayton that attracts and retains creative people and fosters the creative expression inherent in Everyone. We value: Dayton , Community, Creativity, Growth, Connection, Inclusion, Empowerment, Expression, Inspiration, Equality, Diversity, Support, and Sustainability.

Connect:

We hold public meetings once a month. One month we might get together to share our latest projects. The next month we might blindfold each other and run through the streets of downtown Dayton. You never can tell… Please join us to meet new and creative people, show and tell, and socialize in a supportive environment. Always free. Always fun. Always interesting.

We discuss Circus business on the third Saturday of every month from 1-3pm at Front Street studio #50 OR 24 Jefferson St. 4th floor Downtown Dayton. Please check the calendar on this page for meeting location or call 626.8013. This meeting is intended for steering the direction of our collaborative project. We discuss agenda items, vote on issues, set goals. Take care of the nitty gritty. The Business Meetings are free and open to the public.

Create:

We value the creative power of ALL people. Whether you sculpt, write computer programs, or make babies, or all of the above and then some, you are an Artist in some aspect of your life. We are all exploring our worlds, expressing what we see hear and feel there, and making choices that compel change.

The Circus encourages you to up the ante in the ways you create. We hope to inspire you to make something new. Something more complex. Something that shatters the expectations of what you thought was possible for yourself! We are here to assist. If there's a vision you've been carrying around, we want to help you make it a reality.

Express:

Do you need a place to show or perform your work? We host art shows and benefits at Pearl NiteClub, and occasional showcases of our work at other venues. Just contact us to get involved! Do you want to host your own event, workshop, class, or silly get-together? We have the space available, the manpower to help, and the promotions support to spread the word.

Every year, we throw a massive underground art show called The Sideshow. It is the biggest and most public event to show your 2D/3D work, perform with your band, screen your film, build your installation, debut your performance art, or show that radical theater piece you've written. Contact us for details.

Sustain:

We encourage sustainability by supporting and collaborating with various groups throughout the region and promoting healthier enviromental choices. For example, in our collaboration with K12 Gallery for Young People, we are teaching classes for teenagers during the 2007/2008 school year. We offer urban landscape painting and design, performance art, intro to drawing, the art of poetry, henna fabric art, and photography lighting and composition. Call K12 at 937.461.5149 to register. Also, we have worked with Metroparks on cleanup, cob building, and hosting a talk on permaculture and forest food farming.

Our hope for the future is to have a communal space in Downtown Dayton to provide a permanent location for our endeavors. A community space is necessary to foster deep connections between individuals and to have an anchor in our various works. We need a place to gather regularly. We need a place to welcome the community. In the next year we hope to begin our capital campaign. Your donations of time, energy, and money can help make this happen!

I am not a fake. I don't pretend I'm only love or good energy and I don't expect nor want people to try and force me to be so. I am the totality of the human experience and I don't live the delusion of just being love or thinking that is the goal of life. Why should I deny things that I am and try to only be a small part of what is me? I don't need to act like an idealism thinking others are going to think I'm enlightened. I am comfortable being a human and embracing all parts of my humanity because I'm not in denial of what I am. I proudly walk around feeling hate and love, sadness and happiness, because I accept myself.
My art and myself are not purely love or good energy. Maybe a fraction of my art is love or good energy because that is only a fraction of who I am. I don't live in a dream land full of delusions but I live in reality and know I'm a human that is everything humans are, inside. My art is the totality of the human experience and when people approach me, I want them to feel everything, because that is what we are and can experience.

A new product line I'm working on. These are hand turned frames with watercolor paper adhered to them tucked in an inset grove. I can do portraits on them and do paintings as large as 20 inches. (from edge to edge of frame)

Funny, one can write one letter and get many responses. Some say, good job, way to say what needs to be said, others say, that is negative and bad.
Is it wrong to say what you think is right or what your feelings are? Should we hide away and never express our feelings? Which person is correct, is the perspective of "awesome writing" correct or the perspective of being negative correct?

Lets say you have an activist who claims to be full of love. This activist protest and puts up a fight to change the world. They write tons of negative crap about things they don't like. Is that wrong? What about a person who is an activist in art with strong opinions.
Should they shut their mouths because others cry like babies? Should an activist not stop politics they don't like because some people think it is negative?
